HATCHER Funeral services for Derek Lee Hatcher, 24, will be held 11AM Friday, February 26, 2016 at BLACK POND BAPTIST CHURCH, 3644 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL with Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Black Pond Cemetery. Derek was born on August 15, 1991 in Orange Park, FL. He went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2016 in Babson Park, FL. Derek graduated from Ridgeview High School in 2009 where he played football as Team Captain and Quarterback of the team. Derek was voted North East Florida's [MVP] Most Valuable Player in 2008. He was an Elite 11 Quarterback and attended the Army All-American Combine. He also was All County and All First Coast in 2008. Derek went onto College to continue his passion for football at the University of Arkansas. Derek later transferred from Arkansas and went to Charleston Southern University where he served as Team Captain. He most recently transferred to Webber University where he was going to finish his football career and pursue his dream of becoming a college football coach. Derek leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Debbie Kelly; father, David Hatcher and his wife Susie; four brothers, David Hatcher, Johnny Moore, Josh Moore and Jacob Moore; grandparents, Lee and Carole Honsinger, and many other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday (TODAY) from 5PM-7PM at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. Derek touched the lives of many people over his 24 years on this earth and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
