Donald Chancey Obituary

CHANCEY Donald Lamar Chancey, passed away on Saturday December 3rd, 2005. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 18th, 1946. He was a graduate of Paxon High School. He attended Florida State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a loving father of two sons who were born in Atlanta, Georgia and a caring and strong husband to his wife Pamela of 25 years. Strong in his faith, he raised his sons well and left a fine example of an educated, hard-working, dedicated family man. He is survived by his wife Pamela Chancey; two sons, Morgan and Zachary Chancey; two brothers, Wade and Bob Chancey; three sisters, Ada Pline, Cynthia Brown and Sonja Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was pre-deceased by his sister, Patricia Lynn Chancey. The family will receive friends at the Chapel of the Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 6th. Funeral Services will be held at the Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post Street, 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 7th. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Chancey's family will gratefully accept flowers or those wishing may make a donation in his memory to the American Heart Association, 5851 St. Augustine Road, Jack. Fl. 32207. Pam, Morgan and Zachary - you have my deepest sympathy and love. Uncle Don was not only a great uncle, but a good friend. Many times I went to him for advice. His smile and sense of humor will be missed, but will live on in my heart. I love ya'll!

I always considered Don as one of my best friends in high school and college. I'm deeply grieved and shocked to hear of his passing at such a young age.Don was was liked by everyone who knew him, mainly because of sincerity and unbelievable quick wit. my prayers are with his family.

Hearing of Don's passing was an unbelievable shock. Don shaped, mentored, and influenced so many young men (including my son Sean) in such a positive and powerful way with his work with the Boy Scouts. He was one of the best men I have ever known. Don's passing is a great loss to those who knew and loved him. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends. Don and I were team mates from the early sixties and he was a great mentor and friend, I have nothing but good memories of him as a team mate,Paxonite and friend.
