Edward Klempf Obituary

KLEMPF Mr. Edward (Peppi) Klempf, 75, passed away peacefully Friday October 18, 2002 due to complications from a weak heart. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but lived in Jacksonville for most of his life. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Jeanne, having been married 48-years, sons, Marc Edward Klempf, Kevin (Jacques) Klempf, and a daughter Dina Kimberly Srochi, and 7-grandchildren, and many friends who knew him for his love of life, generosity, and sense of humor. He was the founder of Dixie Egg Company in 1948, and continued to provide leadership and direction for the company up until his death. Mr. Klempf had learned about the egg business as a child through the eyes and wisdom of his father Jacob Klempf who emmigrated from Poland. Eddie also authored a book of poetry, “ The Human Heart,” which was a compilation of poems from his early years through his marriage with his wife Jeanne, who affectionately called him “ Peppi.” A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2002, in the chapel of HARDAGE-GIDDENS Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wolfsons Childrens Hospital. Please sign the Guestbook at Jacksonville.com

Mrs. Klempf, Jacques, Dina and Marc: I just want to send my condolences to all of you. In 1977, your husband/dad gave me the opportunity to work for Dixie Egg Company when I had no experience whatsoever. He was a great boss, always kind and fair to everyone who worked for him. I know that everyone who knew him will miss his sense of humor, his wisdom, and what I remember most, his compassion for anyone who deserved it. Again, I am very sorry for your great loss.

Jeanne, my heart goes out to you; Eddie was a special human being. I often reminiscence of our days in the Gulf Life Tower, our evenings in the University Club, our Friday lunches and our trips to Blackshear. Mainly because those are the times and places where I heard the stories of Eddie's life. His personality was like none other I have known. I don't have words that can describe, I only have my memories just as you have yours. I really felt a closeness with Eddie and I probably wasn't alone, he may have made all his friends seem special. While we hurt, I know Eddie is in a better place looking over us. God bless you, vaughn
