Once in great while two paths cross on a journey and make an impact so life changing that no matter the time and distance between the experience the memory never fades. Gorio was a friend/shipmate/family/little brother who never left my thoughts after I left my own family in pursuit of my own dreams. To learn of his passing all the way across the country should give you an idea of how many people cared about you! I am only disheartened to know that we will never cross paths again in this lifetime and serve together as officers in Navy, but I know that God must have had a good reason to take you so early in your life! I'll see you again little brother, but until then save me a sit my work here is not done!!! You left a lasting legacy on me and my family that will never fade. Rest in Peace and may you be the angels to watch over your family.

On behalf of your family here in Connecticut we miss you and love you!!

My condolences to the Reyes family and all who knew him!!

I've been having a lot of trouble coming to terms as to why you were taken from us. My only conclusion is that the Lord gave you the choice of you or one of us, and knowing the man you are, you took the fall, as you always would have. Now I wish that I wouldn't have been so rough all the time and let you know how much I appreciated your friendship. You've been a brother since day one and will always remain so. Don't worry, we'll take care of Vanessa and the family as you would've done for us. I regret that you never got to meet Averie, but I know that you watch over us. We love you dearly and miss you more than you could imagine. See you soon, bro.

Greg, it is hard to imagine we will not be able to golf together anymore. You are my bro. I can still remember getting a text message from you in class at JU and skipping the rest of the day's classes to go golfing. You will be missed. I wish I would have called you a few weeks ago when we got back from deployment. You were on my mind and I don't know why I didn't call. Maybe we could have played one last time. You will be truly missed and thought of often. Love you bro.

To Greg an officer and a gentlemen,

Thank you for being a part of my life. High school and my assignment to Ft. Stewart are fond memories because of your friendship. You had that type of personality everyone loved. Though you had a limited time you accomplished so much. I’m glad you were able to live out your dreams of attaining your gold bars by becoming a naval officer. My last email from Greg, he mentioned he found his soul mate in Vanessa Pichardo. My condolences go out to Vanessa and the Reyes family.

I could not believe the news when I heard it. So tragic to have happen to a wonderful person, so young. It didn't hit me until I was talking with my mom. Thats when I realized how important Greg was in my life. Everyone in my family was shocked. It's been a long time since my family has seen him and yet he was never forgotten.
We've been thru and shared sooo much together and I am very grateful to have had him in my life.
Hanging out with the cousins/friends, phone bills, driving, letters, studying, skipping school, bowling, bball, casino, bingo, snowboarding, clubs, the backyard driving range, family vacations, birthdays, my debut, filipino folk dancing, holidays, parties, proms, graduations, sleep overs, games, laughing, crying, good times, bad times and so much more...
I'll always cherish the memories, Gorio.
You would always check up on me to make sure I was doing ok...and I know you still will. You will always be in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy goes to all his family and fiance.

Gregory,
I don't know where to start...still in disbelief that you're gone. A wholesome man I have ever met and hopefully I will find a man just like you in my life again. Smart, handsome, makes me laugh every time when I was with you. I remembered the laughs and jokes we shared and you will always be in my heart. My family loves you the day they met you and welcomed you in every time you visited even though we were not dating we were still good friends. I love you.
My thoughts are with you Sarah,Eva, Ray, and of course Greg's Dad.

Greg, I still can't believe that you're gone. It still hasn't hit me. I know we hadn't seen each other in a year or so, but I remember every time you came up to Newport you always stopped by to say hi. You came to my wedding and you were always a good friend to me. You will be sorely missed.

My condolences to your Mom, Dad, Eva, your brother, and to your fiance.

I know you're watching down on us. Take care always.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Reyes family. Greg will be missed. I served with Greg on USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80) from the time he reported onboard until the ship, until I left, just prior to the cruise earlier this year. He could always tell when something was bothering me and knew how to make me smile, to help brighten my day.

My family and I met Greg when he dated our niece more than 10 years ago. We liked him instantly. He was a gentleman, he was magalang (respectful), and alot of fun to be with. He got along really well with all of us and we considered him part of our big family. When their relationship ended, it was hard on all of us. It was like losing one of our own.
It is even harder now to know that he's gone.
We will always remember you, Gorio. But, I know we will all meet again someday in a better place.
Our prayers go out to you and your family.

I knew Greg when he dated my sister a few years back. He lived in Newport, RI and we lived in Connecticut, but he was over our house every weekend and any chance he had. We have a large extended family in Connecticut and Greg became very close to everyone here especially our cousins.

I'll have to admit I wasn't warm to him at first, as I am with all of my sister's boyfriends but I eventually warmed up to him. We got our first tattoos together back in the winter of '95. He got a Filipino Flag crossed with an Irish flag because they couldn't find the Scottish flag to copy at the tattoo shop. I got a band around my arm with my zodiac sign in the middle. When I look at my tattoo I remember being in Body Graphics and Greg getting his tattoo done by a woman. The woman wanted to make his bigger than he wanted. He resisted a little until the woman said that a bigger tattoo would look better on his big arm. There was no resistance after that.

His passing has really affected all of us even though we haven't seen him for a few years. I just want to send my condolences to his family and his fiancée and say that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Greg was a great guy and will be missed by everyone who has had the privilege to have known him.

Greg,

Still in utter disbelief. It seems like it was just yesterday that I saw your handsome face. Words cannont express the pain that we feel in our hearts and our minds will never rest, but FAITH will see us through. Forever in our memories you will be cherished.....until we meet again.

To the family and friends of Greg,

My thoughts and prayers go out to you. The Lord picked a GREAT man to watch over all of us.
