To the family of the late Jamia Reed.I meet Jamia through Latrice when Ja'mani was just about 9 months old Jamia always had such a sweet personality. We had our differences but we still would talk when ever I would see her. Jamia the last time I saw you was when we went to the Flea Market just a few weeks before you went into the hospital. We laughed and shopped as if the petty things that we feel out about were never there. That's the type of person you were. Jamia I will truly miss your beautiful smile and your crazy and wild ways. I don't know why but God knows why he chose you.Love Meka

I worked with mia in targets food ave she was like a sister to me I could talk to mia about anything from my personal life to just everyday things. she always gave me her strong stern advice and how she felt about what we were talking about. I remember asking mia when me and my husband finally had children would she be the godmother to them and she looked at me and laughed and said yeah when im ready... I only knew mia for a short while but the time I spent with her has been a great one when ever I needed help I would call mia and she was there... I changed jobs and she still held a strong place in my heart she will be missed dearly by me and my family. Her jokes, and laughs, her blunt answers and her love for her (husband Robert and children) will always ring in my heart for ever. to her kids and robert we love you guys and are always praying for ya'll no matter what ya'll are still family. Love you Jamia. *Meka*.

Jamia, I hadn't seen you but maybe once or twice since graduation, June 2, 2000 but I had always remembered you for being so sweet and nice. You would always speak and smile and your friendliness was so natural and genuine. It was hard to find friends like you in high school and when you lose touch and something like this happens, you just don't know how to feel. But at least I got to see you one last time, sorry it had to be this way though. Your family and the rest of our friends and classmates are in my thoughts always. To the family/friends:
I don't know where to start. Me and Jamia were close friends since I can't even remember. Me, Jamia, and my twin brother had a friendship that is very difficult to explain. We were very close and she was like a sister. We partied during high school and particpated in extracurricular activities together from track to GQ events. Even though I haven't seen Jamia in a couple of years when I heard the sad news it touched me like I was with her just yesterday. She was a real friend and will truly be missed. I was Jamia's Career Counselor and in that capacity had quite a few conversations with her. She was bright, hard working and focused. Despite her young age, she was committed to taking care of her children the best way possible. In fact, that was exactly what struck me when I met her: her absolute love for her children. Certainly no one can claim full understanding as to why Jamia went home at such a young age. I do know however that she used her time here in a positive way. Although I don't know her parents, I commend them for a job well done. My condolences goes to all of Jamia's family. My prayers are with you at this difficult time.

To the Family of our Jamia-Mia,
There is nothing appropriate to say at this time. There is nothing that can be said to suffice for the immediate void. But only "THANK YOU". Thank God for blessing us with Mia for even this short time. Each of our lives would be less fulfilling had we not been graced with her presence. Thank you to Ms. Quan, Mr. Walter, Grandma, Jeremy (she simply adored you), Robert, and 3 lil Jamia's for making her who she was and will forever be in our memories and hearts.
Jamia-Mia,
We have been friends since before we had visible assets. You were there comforting me when I lost my granddad and here I am now needing comfort for you. 12 years we've known each other but it still is not enough time. From dance rehearsals to messing up in performances, girl talk on the phone, and ditching school to eat out, we were always up to something. You overcame the obstacle of being a teenage mother and wowed them all by graduating and still participating in all Ribault had to offer. I am so proud of the woman you had become. The glow was definetly on you and now you're in a new home, a new glorified body, that nothing here can compare to. We may cry alot and wonder why, but we know you are behind the veil and resting in His perfect peace. I love you, I love you, I love you. You ARE a blessing.

What a shock it was to hear about the death of Jamia. It is hard for me to think of her as a grown woman with children of her own. I always remember Jamia as that tiny little "sprite" of a thing whom I had the wonderful opportunity to teach in fourth and fifth grades. She was so sweet and special then, I can only imagine what a wonderful lady and mother she grew to be. She definitely had a special place in my heart. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this time. No words can take away your pain, but maybe knowing that so many people loved Jamia may help to ease it just a bit. May God be with you now and always.

Jamia, it's so hard to beleive you're gone and I am missing you so much. It seems like yesterday that we were dancing together at Ribault Senior High School on that Trojett Dance Team, or running the streets getting into who knows what. We had such good times together...Mama Quan making us come home early before we even seen the movie because she had Jamani, us begging for just a little more time....time if only you had a little more time I wouldn't feel the pain that feel right now. God has you now and I know you're in good hands, so I'll let go of physical but not your spirital hand, I'll hold you close to my heart forever, never letting go. I love you so much and always will. To Mama Quan,I love you and wish you didn't have to bare this hurt, just keep trusting in God and know that Jamia is no longer suffering. Grandma, Robert and the kids-let not your heart be troubled...your granddaughter, girlfriend and mother will always be with in your heart and always watching over you from above.

Quan,
I know it seems as though your world has ended, but keep your faith, and they will get better with time. I can only imagine what you must feel. My heart and my prayers go out to you and your family. God will keep you all strong. He has plans for all of us. Just remember, you always have a friendly ear, an empty shoulder, and a hand to hold whenever you need one. God Bless !!!

To the Reed Family
I send my deepest condolence in your time of grievance. I know it's hard each day that goes by and seems as though the pain just won't go away. Each day that goes by you find yourself questioning Why? And because of our selfish thinking we can't see past the hurt and pain. But if we were to take a closer look within ourselves we could see that the pain is not because Jamia is gone, but because she is gone to a better place and we are left behind. GOD needed another Angel and Mia took his calling and obliged. To her kids, Family, Robert, and close friends let not your hearts be troubled Let it rest at ease & peace, You took this as a shock the early time of her demise, May the peace that she is feeling, help you dry your weeping eyes; No one knows when there job on earth is complete, and he called on Mia that night and said "I think its time we meet"; Be not burdened with times of sorrow, for Mia is the sun that will shine your tomorrow. Although her parting may have left a empty void, fill it with the best of remembered joys, For her obedience she it blessed and at Peace....You will be truly missed!!
Deuteronomy 28:1
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.

To the family, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to you at this saddened time. Jamia was a very nice girl and fun to be with during our time at Ribault Senior High and she will truly be missed. It has to be very hard to handle the loss of a mother, daughter, cousin, and friend but just know that GOD knows what is best for us and he will never put any more on us than we can bare.

Jamia,
We all love you so much and we all will greatly miss you. When I see Robert, Quan, Pat, Shun, Walter and others I can just feel their pain of missing you. I thank GOD for the great times we had at the Water Park and Skating Ring. It seems so strange and we don't understand why!!! but I know that this was part of God's plan. It hurts to know that you are gone, but believe me you are in a better place then all of us. Mia don't worry about the kids they will be well taken care of...so just smile on and rest in PEACE.

Jamia,
You were so special. I know that you are in a better place now. As I looked back on some of your pictures only tears of joy could roll down my face. Your birthday party at McDonalds, Easter, your prom, your deliveries. Your time on this earth was short but we have has some good times. Know that there will never be another Jamia "trouble" Reed. Your beautiful kids will know that their mother loved them with all of her heart. Aunt Pat keep your head up. Quan you know that Mia was an angel and she will forever be looking down on us. Jermey you have not lost your sister for she will forever be by your side. Robert and the kids know tht everything is going to be alright. Remember all of the good times and keep Mia's memory alive.
I love you girl.
Your #1 cousin

I used to always mess with Jamia about me being her "step-mother". Ever since her dad, Walter, and I married, she was more like my best friend. We talked just about every day, and we saw her almost every weekend. She had a beautiful spirit and a loving heart. It hurt like hell to watch her pass but I know God has her wrapped in his arms. Jamia was a strong person who went the extra mile to prove a point. She was determined to make it on her own. She showed a lot of people that doubted her that she would and could make it. Her and Robert loved each other and she would do any and everything for her children. Her children were her pride and joy and I know that they will miss their mother dearly. Jamia was someone I trusted and she had confidence in knowing that she had accomplised most of her goals. She was a friend, a confidant, a "step-daughter" and a genuinely sweet person. Baby-girl, you will be sadly missed but I know you will be in my heart for always. Anasia and Alexas will miss you but I will always remind them of you and you will live on through me and them and everyone who really loved you and cared about you!!!!

I went to school with Jamia and she was very quite and seemed to be nice. To the family: weeping may endure for a night but, joy cometh in the morning. She is now resting where all angels roam and is free from pain. To her kids : always know that your mother loved you and did what she could to take care of you . Have sweet rest in your resting place.
