Juanita Stroup Obituary

STROUP Juanita Stokes Stroup, 93, of Folkston, passed away January 21 in Brunswick. She is a native and life long resident of Charlton County. Her parents were the late L.E. And Molly Braddock Stokes. She owned and operated the Richcliff Restaurant in Folkston until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Folkston. Her life was centered around God, family and Friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Bernard “Dick” Stroup; son: Robert Bernard Stroup; and a grandson: Joseph Keith Jones. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Peggy S. and Joseph A. Jones, Jr., of Folkston, 3-grandchildren: Michael Stephen (Wendy) Jones of Kingsland, GA, Sherri (Stanton Claude) Jones Hawthorne of Orlando, FL, and Madrina Delise Bokenkamp of Katy, TX; and a granddaughter-in-law: Kim Bragg Jones; 11-Grandchildren: Stacey Marie Jones, Rebecca Caroline Jones, Marisa Katherine Jones, Laura Elizabeth Jones, Joseph Andrew Jones, Blake Alan Jones, Stanton Stroup Hawthorne, Julia Fowler Hawthorne, Thomas “Chip” Hawthorne, Dane Bokenkamp and Nina Bokencamp. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 23 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Folkston with Rev. Randy Jacoby and Rev. Gene McCullough officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Drew Jones, Blake Jones, Stan Hawthorne, Stu Hawthorne, and Chip Hawthorne. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 401 S. 3rd St., Folkston, GA 31537, or the Gene McCullough Mission Fund, c/o First Baptist Church of Folkston, or Gideons International, 309 W. She always displayed her heart as God's home.
