Kyle LaPointe Obituary

LAPOINTE Kyle Stewart LaPointe, 30, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center. Born in Jacksonville on June 7, 1981, Kyle was the son of Tom and Kathy LaPointe. He is survived by one brother, Dean LaPointe, and one sister, Michelle LaPointe, and his precious nephew Ryan (and brothers Mathew, Andrew, and Christopher), special nephew and buddy Dakarai, and sweet nieces Kaiya and Shawonne. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, Michael Duquette, who together embraced life while living with Muscular Dystrophy with courage and strength, fueled by their love for movies, t.v. sit-coms, music, daily phone conversations, and many years of fun at MDA's Summer Camp. Kyle is also survived by aunts and uncles Chick and Corinne LaPointe, Mike and DeeDee Stewart, aunts; Sally LaPointe, Marybeth Entwistle, Renee Horgan, and many loving cousins: Adrienne and Thomas King, Christopher LaPointe, Tommy and Rachel Burnham, Liz and Jeff Michel, Gary and Lyzette Entwistle, and Caitlin and Aidan Horgan. Gratitude goes out to the loving teachers at Love Grove Elementary, Landmark Middle School, and Sandalwood High School (Class of 1999) who went well beyond teaching to provide Kyle with life experiences to treasure. Kyle proudly was welcomed into the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department as a volunteer for over two years. Friends forever! For the past 8 years, Kyle has been a student at FSCJ, receiving his GED, and progressing toward his Associate of Arts degree one course at a time. From the professors and the guidance and support staff, to the cooks who served Kyle the usual and brought it to his table, to the compassionate and fun student-friends, there are not enough words to describe the meaning given to Kyle's life through his FSCJ experience. How do you thank the JTA Connexion drivers who have been Kyle's daily buddies for over 11 years? You stand out as the finest folks a person can wish for. For two years, Kyle was the Goodwill Ambassador for Muscular Dystrophy Association, and enjoyed his role and spotlight, allowing him to meet and thank many generous contributors. Kyle's week each summer at MDA Camp gave freedom and fun beyond measure, and the volunteer counselors are forever remembered. Kyle's life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass Thursday, December 22 at 11:00 at St. John's Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, Atlantic Beach. Father Mark Waters will preside. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00. Interment will immediately follow at Beaches Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to MDA Jacksonville, 7077 Bonneval Rd. Ste. 400, Jacksonville, Florida 32216 to the MDA Summer Camp fund. Arrangements are under the care and direction of First Coast Funeral Home and Beaches Memorial Park, 1500 Main Street, Atlantic Beach, FL. 32233 904-249-1166. I was saddened to learn of Kyle's passing. He was always so willing to try new things and enjoyed his life to the fullest. I remember him when he was little and at Love Grove-always gave his all to whatever he did. Know that you helped him achieve to the best of his ability and gave him all of yourselves, always.
