HAPSIS Peter Hapsis, age 26, died suddenly on January 22, 2014. Peter was born in Jacksonville on February 13, 1987, grew up at the Beaches, attended Fletcher and graduated from the Broach School. Peter is survived by his mother, Sharon Hapsis, his brothers Gust III and Timothy, his sister Kate and also by his father, Gust, Jr. His family and friends will always remember Peter's radiant smile and the way he would look right into your eyes when he spoke to you. He was warm, kind, and had a big heart. Tall and muscular, Peter's pure presence and the sparkle in his eyes will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him. Many people might be surprised to know that Peter worked hard to develop certain inventions -- focusing primarily on energy-saving transportation. Peter enjoyed the History and Discovery television channels and could talk at length about historical and scientific issues which interested him. He was a serious student of auto mechanics, and he knew every millimeter of his beloved Honda motorcycle, the chariot on which he last rode when he was taken by his Creator to a place without pain or worry. Peter's Memorial Service will be held at on Sunday, January 26 at 11am at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach, FL. Dear Sharon I have not seen you in many years. I was saddened to come upon this on the Internet . We have known one another since young childhood and I have always held very fond memories of knowing you and your family. I regret that I was only briefly with you and your children when they were very young . However, in that very small amount of time I witnessed your great love of all your children. Knowing the loving and compassionate people your parents were and taught you to be I know your children are as well. I am deeply moved and have been lately thinking of how you have been. I know that you are a very giving person and I think of Peter just the same as his Mom.

I only knew Peter through his mother. Sharon spoke of him and she was always concerned and thinking of Peter. From talking with Sharon he was an exceptional individual and will be missed but not forgotten. I am sorry for your loss and know Peter is in a better place.
