I am happy to have been friends with Terry since 1989. She was a wonderful example for me. She never gossiped about other people or put anyone down. She was always turning thoughts and actions towards the positive. She was so much fun to be with.

In July, Terry and Terry came to visit us in Louisiana on their way to Austin. We had a wonderful time eating "Cajun-Italian" food and searching for live music around town. Terry never complained about the talent (or lack of), she was just having fun. She was happy to be where she was, enjoying the company of her much-loved husband, family, and friends. I enjoyed their visit very much.

To lose Terry is very sad. "The impulse of tragedy is on to life and more life", written by Eugene Oneill. I know Terry, the ultimate English teacher, would appreciate his quote. I will always remember her example and try to live my life in the positive way she lived hers. Love to all.

My wife and I just returned home from the funeral and services for Terry. It was deeply moving to see the outpouring of compassion and support for the Sikes family from Ed White School and the community.

I thought it was an incredible service. We have known Terry and Terry for over 13 years. When we lived in Jacksonville, they were our closest friends and we had many enjoyable outings with them. Terry loved to tell us her new "dumb-blonde" jokes, and they both kept us guessing with their mind puzzles as we drove to our destination. They shared their favorite escape with us one year--the Grand Canyon. It was an experience we will never forget, and the patience and compassion bestowed on my wife and I by the two Terrys as we trudged painfully back up from the Canyon floor taught me a valuable lesson. We cherish the time we had with Terry as we continue to enjoy the friendship of her soul-mate and hiking partner. They were truly a unique and wonderful couple.

Dear Terry,J.J., and the Sikes family, Terry was one of the first people that I met when I started teaching at Landon in 1984. She and I were across the hall from each other for four years. She and I shared many good times at faculty partys and on planning days. She always had a kind word for everyone that she knew. Even when she went to Ed White and I went to Sandalwood, we kept in touch. She was always faithful about calling me when the band was going to play on the weekend. Terry, I know that she was such an inspiration to you and the band. Just to be able to know that you had her support and encouragement meant a great deal. I will miss her wonderful smile and glowing personality. She has touched the lives of many people-young and old alike. My deepest sympathy to all of you that loved her so much.

When I was informed of Mrs Sikes death I didn't want to believe it. I didn't want to think that one of life's precious gifts of truth, love and acceptance that lived through every breath of her was now gone. She cared about all of her students and it truly upset her when one of them did not live out there potenial. She always inspired hope for our future and made sure we knew that we could do anything. No matter how busy she was she always made time to listen to our problems, and she always offered a shoulder to cry on. She cared so much that when her students were happy she was truly glowing of happiness. And when something sad came over her students they would not be the only ones with wet eyes. She was one of lifes precious miracles. She probally has no idea how much she will be missed. As modest as she was she probally doesnt even know how increbile she was and how each of our lives are affected by her death but more importantly we were affected by the life she lead. Mrs. Sikes I want to thank you for giving me strength and hope when I ran out, and showing me motherly love when I needed it the most. I love you Mrs. Sikes. Class of 2000.

Mrs Sikes was truly a wonderful person. I never had the pleasure of being in any of her classes at Ed White, but I had a chance to be involved with her through student council. It is such a tradgedy to see her go so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. She has made such a difference in the lives of students at Ed White and she will be truly missed.

I was fortunate to have Mrs. Sikes for English at Landon Jr. High. She will always be remembered as a teacher who cared about her students. My heart goes out to her family, friends, students and colleagues who lost such a special person. I also feel for those who will never have their lives touched by her due to her untimely passing.

Mrs. Sikes was my English I Honors teacher. Not only was she there for my first year of high school, but my first year as a member of a public school. After spending nine years on a Baptist school, coming to Ed White caused me to go through a severe culture shock. Though I had made many new friends, I really did not feel comfrtable talking to them about what I was going through. I remember going to English class early everyday and talking to Mrs. Sikes, if only about what happened the day before. She was always there when you needed her. I had seen her everyday this year on the way to my fourth period class; it still seems so strange that she is no longer there with a smile and a "Hello Marie." I will never forget Mrs. Sikes and all that she did for me. She was truly a great lady and a blessing from God to so many people. Thanks for everything, Mrs. Sikes, and may God truly bless you now that you are with Him in Heaven

Mrs. Sikes is by far the best teacher any student could have. I always felt sorry for the students that were not lucky enough to have her as a part of their high school year. She seen potential in every one of her students and didn't dare let them leave that door until they knew it. She devoted her life to us. Even when she wasen't my teacher anymore...she still popped up occasionally. She always shopped at Roosevelt Publix, which is where I worked through school. She always greeted me with a smile and a hug and made sure my life was still on the right track. She will be missed by many people. I know she will always be in my thoughts. My sympany poors out for the family and friends, but consider yourself the luckiest people in the world for being able to be so close to her.

We all will remember Mrs. Sikes as a really great teacher, but she was so much more than that. I feel so blessed to have had her all through high school for yearbook. I was given the chance to experience her warmth. She was the person who sincerly cared about everone she came in contact with. She always showed concern for you. She always showed intrest in me and my life. The absolute best thing about her besides her gummi-worm brownies, was the fact that she was one of the very few people who knew exactly when to listen and when to advise. So many times I went to her because all I wanted was someone to listen and I knew that she would do just that. I will always remember her endless supply of popcorn and erasable pens (blue ones, not black), the way she sat in her chair, those Christmas tree cakes, and most of all i will always hold close to my heart the way she has impacted my life. She wasn't only a great teacher, she was an INSPIRATION! I love you Mrs. Sikes

Mrs. Sikes was one of the most influential people I knew at Ed White. She was my english instructor for one semester freshman year, but she was my teacher through graduation. Even with her truly active schedule she always had time for "one more magic trick". A woman who touched so many lives will never be forgotten.

I really don't know where to begin when it comes to Mrs. Sikes...She was a wonderful person and she was like my second mom at school. I had her for an English Honors teacher in ninth grade and then I had her for the next three years as my yearbook teacher, friend, and student counsel sponsor. Whenever I had problems Mrs. Sikes was there with an open ear and great advice. She never once complained about us always coming to her with problems, it was like she expected it and she knew just what to say to make me feel better. One thing I remember is that at the end of every year Mrs. Sikes would let me come and stay in her classroom all day because she knew that I had to be their for perfect attendence. She was an awesome woman and I know that right now she is enjoying her place in Heaven and that she will always be watching over me. There are just so many memorable moments that I shared with her and I just can't express them all. I also realized the other day, when I was looking through my 2002 senior yearbook, that Mrs.Sikes was the only teacher that I got to sign my last yearbook. It made me cry, but I was so relieved to know that I will be able to carry her with me all of the time. Mrs. Sikes I love you so much and I am so glad that we had a chance to visit with each other about two weeks ago. You have meant the world to me and I miss you, but I will never forget you or your incredible spirit. Thank you for our time spent here together and I can't wait until I see you again! To her family and other friends, my heart goes out to every single one of you and I will keep you all in my prayers.

Mrs. Sikes was one of the few teachers that really cared about the students and their futures. I had her my freshman year at Ed White and I honestly can say she is truly a remarkable person. She was always there when I or anyone else needed her and was always willing to listen and give advice. One of the many memories I have of her is when we would joke about Alabama and Gator Football. For four years, every time I passed her in the hallway I would say "ROLL TIDE" and she would laugh and say "GO GATORS" with a big grin. She touched my life and she will always be remembered. Mrs. Sikes, thank you for all the talks and thank you for everything you've done! I'll miss you. My deepest sympathy to her family...

Terry and I worked closely at Ed White. She loved working with her yearbook staff, and because I have the newspaper, we could relate to each other's joys and stresses. I could always rely on Terry to understand and be there when I needed someone to listen. I will cherish our many "talks" and keep a special place in my heart for her. My heart goes out to those who have had the honor to experience Ms. Sikes. She truly was an enchanting person and always had an uplifting spirit. I had Ms. Sikes as a ninth grade English Honors teacher. At the start of the school year, my electives were changed and I was placed in her yearbook class. Over the four years that I walked the halls of Edward H. White, she always had a smile on her face and bubbly personality in her heart. She definitely had an impact on her students. She was patient, caring, and always made time to listen to her students. Even though I never had Ms. Sikes as a teacher after the ninth grade, she always stopped to talk to me. She gave her students constant encouragement, wisdom, and was always eager to help out anyone in need. I will truly miss her for being the wonderful gift of God that she was. I have so many happy memories of my time spent with Mrs. Sikes. I can't believe she is gone. She was such a dedicated teacher and a great mentor. She was always willing to go the extra mile to help one of her students. I haven't spoke with her in a couple of years, but I know that I was blessed to know her. I will never forget her. Mrs. Sikes was such a blessing in my life. She was the one who embraced me when I first came to Ed White, and form day one, was always there for me when I needed help, whether it had to do with school or not. I will never forget the encouragement she was to me...always teaching me to challenge myself, and above all to love. Love is someting that shown through her from day one. Even in death, she is teaching me. Never to take things for granted. I have never sat under any of her teachings but I did get the chance ( on many occasions) to see a room full of students smile with joy as soon as see entered the room; because they all knew that is what she was full of. And in this day and age of society, for a teacher to have that type of impact on 14-18 yr old "know it all kids"; then, you know she had to be one special person.

Mrs. Sikes was a wonderful person in more ways than one. I believe she had the heart of an angel. She was one of the few teachers who you could tell really loved working with teenagers. I first met her when I was in 9th grade, in her English Honors class. I am now a senior and have been in her yearbook class since 10th grade. I feel very lucky to have had her for a teacher each year, but I feel even more blessed to have had her as a friend each year. She was someone you could talk to about your past, present, and future. She would console you through the bad times, and rejoice with you in the good. There is definately a void in my life now that she is gone. I want to ask God why, but I know He has everything under control. I think she fulfilled everything He had planned for her to do, and now he wants to spend time with her, just as we have. So although I consider it a terrible loss for her to be gone, I know I can look forward to the day when I see her again.

I had the privelage of meeting and getting to know both Terry Sikes (then Snow) and JJ at Landon Jr High. She was not one of my teachers, but that did not matter to her. She helped me thru a rather difficult time, and went out of her way to check on me. My deepest sympathy to JJ. But you now have the best angel possible watching over you! May god bless you and be with you always.

Mrs. Sikes was a great inspiration to all of her students and will be missed very much. she was very professional and very caring in her duties at Ed White, they have lost a shining star but now the students have someone upstairs watching over them, thank you Mrs. Sikes you were one of the best teachers our daughter had and one she still speaks about when referring back to Ed White. I will always be amazed at how you could meet a parent 1 maybe 2 times and still remember them! God Bless you and your family at this tragic time!

As sponsor for the Junior/Senior Class of 1999, Mrs. Sikes help to light our way into adulthood. Without her impact, many of us would not have made it as far as we have. Thank you Mrs. Sikes for all of your love, respect, and encouragement.

I had Ms. Sikes for an 8th grade teacher at Landon in 1974, and she will always stand out in my memory as the best teacher I ever had. I knew her as Ms. Snow. She left a great impact on me.

We had lots of great memories in Mrs. Sikes 9th grade English class. Seems like such a long time ago.I'm really glad I ran into her recently, and had the chance to catch up. She was always so happy to see former students, and always had a sparkle in her eyes.

Having Mrs. Sikes as a teacher greatly changed my life. It is not very often that you come accross a teacher that was as caring as Mrs. Sikes. You could go to her for advice, school related or not. She was always interested in what you were currently involved in and tried to steer you in the right path. She always had a positve, can-do attitude and set a wonderful example for students and fellow teachers. I will miss her greatly as I'm sure all of her students will.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Sikes for 10 years. She was my English teacher at Ed White. I always looked forward to going to her class. We continued to stay in touch even after I graduated, she even attended my bridal shower. She was such a joy to know. The world will not be as bright without Mrs. Sikes. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to her family. Terry Sikes was, and forever will be a true Angel.

I had the priviledge to know Terry from a young adult program at First UMC. I came to appreciate her as an involved member of the group. I also enjoyed the beautiful relationship she had with her son (J. J.). We all enjoyed listening to the talented music of her husband. The world is alittle more gray in her absence.

Our thought and prayers are with "he" Terry and J. J.

I never had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Sikes in person.I have heard much about her from my daughter Ashley who is one of her current students. Ashley has been her student in English as well as yearbook. I have heard her praises on too many occasions to count. Only a very special and loving person can have the impact on her students that Mrs. Sikes had. I know she will be greatly missed by the entire student body as well as the faculty at Ed White. I am sorry most of all for the loss her family is suffering. Please know our deepest sympathy and prayers are with you at this time.

Mrs. Sikes was my teacher at Ed White for 4 years in a row, when I had freshman english and as my advisor on the yearbook staff for 3 years. She was the best teacher I have ever had because she was there for me both in school and out of school. If I had a problem she would help me fix it. She worked as hard as I did to help me get into college and I appreciate everything she did for me. I loved her both as my teacher and as a friend. I will miss her. I just wish more kids could have known her like I did.

I never had the privilege to have Mrs. Sikes as a teacher in my 4 years at Ed White, but did talk to her on several occassions. She was always there for her students even after school as I saw her all the time when leaving from after school activites. I was shocked when I heard about her death. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this hard time and know that she is in heaven looking down on us. God Bless you all and know that she touched many people in her time on earth, those who knew her well and those who didn't.

I’ve had the honor of knowing Mrs. Sikes for many years and was lucky enough to be one of her students. She was not only wonderful teacher; she was also an amazing and caring person. It didn’t matter when it was or where we were at, whenever she saw me she always stopped to talk and catch up on what was going on in my life. I don’t think there were many at Ed White who didn’t know her. She wasn’t one of those teachers that came to school in the morning and left when the bell rang. She went the extra mile and put time and effort into her job. Mrs. Sikes touched my life and I will always be thankful for having the privilege of knowing her.

Terri was an inspiration to me in teaching. She was always so calm, caring and patient with her students. We used to talk about our mutual love, Gator football. I will miss her very much and I know the entire Ed White family will grieve for quite a while. We miss you Terri.

Mrs. Sikes,

I remember vividly Mrs. Sikes (formerly Ms. Snow) at Landon Jr. High as a great motivator and english teacher. You always checked on me to see how I was doing in school. Thanks for all of the encouragement.

I too one was one of the fortunate ones to have had Mrs. Sikes during my four years at Ed White. I was especially luck because I had Mrs. Sikes all four years and over that time I got to know her pretty well. She is one of those rare teachers who actually loves to teach and loves her students with everything in her. She made a impact on everyone she met. She was always willing to do anything she could to help us all out! I will forever be grateful to her for our long talks, her kind words, and advice. Mrs. Sikes will be missed so much. I will always love you, Mrs. Sikes.

I had the privelege of having Mrs. Sikes for an english teacher and a yearbook advisor at Ed White High School. When I think back to my years in high school, few teachers stand out in my mind and Mrs. Sikes is definitely one of them. Her door was always open to me or any student needing help, and always with a smile on her face. She invested a lot of her time in our lives and I will always be thankful for the many things she has taught me. It is always sad to lose someone so suddenly, but I thank God that He shared her life with me. She will be missed greatly.
