Charles Burrell Obituary

Charles F. Burrell
Charles F. Burrell, 62, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, in the Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hometown, where he had been a resident since March, 2019. He was the husband of Janet (Hinkle) Burrell. They celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on April 10, 2021.
He was employed by the Borough of Tamaqua for over 35 years before he fell ill.
Born in Coaldale on Friday, April 10, 1959, he was a son of the late Robert Sr. and Alice (Walburn) Burrell.
Charlie and Janet worshipped together and are members of St. John XXIII (formerly St. Jerome's) Roman Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
He graduated in 1977 from the Schuylkill County IU29 School, Pottsville.
He had a lifelong interest in trains and was very knowledgeable about the various types of passenger and freight trains that moved through our area. If you had a question about the history of trains, he was the man to ask.
Charlie was very personable and made many friends through both his employment and his train hobby. He was also an animal lover and spoke fondly of the pet dogs that enriched his life through the years.
Survivors in addition to his widow are his mother-in-law, Josephine Hinkle of Tamaqua; a sister-in-law, Francine (Jeffrey) Eames of Exton; and cousins of both the Walburn and Burrell families.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Jr. and Joseph Burrell.
Service: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, Church of St. Richard of Chichester, 799 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Attendees are reminded of the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines and are kindly asked to wear a mask and observe physical distancing. Arrangements by The Labs Funeral Home, Honey Brook. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum, 500 S. Third St., Hamburg, PA 19526.
