I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Knauer. My family has led a rewarding and happy life and it was largely because of this man. He hired me to teach at Salisbury in 1970 and because of the way that he shaped the school district I stayed for 35 years. I'm sure that he affected many, many others in a similar way. He was a strong and dedicated leader that I always greatly respected.

My mother, Mildred ECKER Colley, and our family cherish the memories of the splendid times we had with your father, Dr. Dan Knauer .My mother and your father were 69 years old when they rekindled a friendship at a high school reunion. They were both widowed and still vibrant and passionate about shared interests in education, community, politics, society and nature.
Your father had a great sense of humor, a profound knowledge of the land, lots of energy for work and play, and looked like he owned the world when he sat on a tractor.
He was a talented, intelligent, accomplished man. Most memorable was his kindness, generosity and wisdom that he shared. We will all miss him and hope that both you and he are in peace.

To the Knauer Family: I just heard about your Dad's passing this evening. Your Dad was one of the top people who had the greatest influence in my life -- he was an uncle, brother, friend, counselor etc. to me as well as my employer. I had and will always have the utmost respect for him. You all were such a wonderful family and I think of you so much. God bless you in this time of sorrow. You are in my prayers. Dr. Knauer hired me as a new elementary teacher in Salisbury Twp. in 1971 and I taught there for 33 years. During his tenure there was a sort of family feeling among the staff. As a union rep we didn't always agree but still had a good relationship. He left his mark on the Salisbury Twp. schools, staff, and students.

To the Knauer Family.
Our thoughts and sympathy are with you during this difficult time. Your father was a patient , intelligent man whose words inspired many people during his time with Salisbury School District. The encouragement he gave to the students and staff alike will long be remembered. I was in the graduating class of 1982 and I remember when he handed me my diploma and congratulated me, I in turn congratulated him on his long career and wished him well during his retirement. He smiled and squeezed my hand and humbly whispered "thank you".
I remember driving along Emmaus Avenue and seeing him in the garden. When you beeped the horn he would raise his hand and wave. He was too busy enjoying himself even though he was working hard.
HIs dedication to his family was apparent with a smile when he spoke of every one of you. He was so proud.
My husband's family often spoke of him with admiration. He worked with several of them for years at the school.
May God's peace and comfort be with all of you.
