Darla Fakla Obituary
Darla A. (Kern) Fakla, 50, of Slatington. After a brave 16-month battle, Darla passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 1, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of William F. and Diane L. (Strohl) Kern, with whom she resided.
She was a graduate of Northern Lehigh High School, Class of 1990, and The Wilton School of Cake Decorating & Confectionery Arts and was the former owner of Darla's Ice Cream Cafe, Slatington for several years.
Darla enjoyed travel, particularly cruising with family and friends. She loved relaxing with family at home and karaoke nights at the former Slate Bowl or Slatington Moose Lodge 1375, where she was a member. She also enjoyed membership at the Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Raylen Becker; nephew, Christopher Knopf; husband/companion of over 30 years, Daniel Fakla Jr.; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Service: A viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Hunsicker Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 3438 Route 309, Orefield. A private funeral service with interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers can be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, 1525 Valley Center Parkway, Suite 180, Bethlehem, PA 18017; or Forgotten Felines and Fidos, P.O. Box 62, Germansville, PA 18053. Facial masks are required to attend the services.
