Edward Marzen Obituary

Edward T. Marzen

Edward T. Marzen, 98, of Towa- mensing Township, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 2, 2025, in his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Helen C. (Roos) Marzen, who passed away on March 27, 2024.

Born in East Mauch Chunk, he was the last survivor of 13 children to the late John A. and Amelia (Engler) Marzen.

Edward and his brother George were partners/owners/operators of Marzen Feed and Hardware in Lehighton, where he worked for 75 years until the age of 95.

He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II, stationed in Newfoundland.

He was a member and the oldest parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton, where he was a past member of the church choir, lector and Eucharistic minister.

Edward was also a member of the Jim Thorpe American Legion and was a 60-plus-year attendee of the Man of Malvern.

Surviving are a daughter, Diane Figueroa of Allentown; sons, Edward, and his wife, Cathy, of Andreas, Michael, and his wife, Mary, of Jim Thorpe, and John, and his wife, Bernadette, and Carl, and his wife, Mary, both of Lehighton; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Swierczek; sisters, Anna Marzen, Margaret Marzen and Sister Mary Marzen, SCC; and brothers, William, John, James J., Leonard, Mgsr. Joseph, Robert, Frank, James F. and George.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 260 N. Third St. Lehighton, with the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis officiating, assisted by Deacon Joseph Wilhelm. Military interment, parish cemetery, Lehighton. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Monday in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the church, 18235. The Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
