Frank E. Flizack

Frank E. Flizack of Jim Thorpe, born Jan. 7, 1939, and died on May 28, 2023.

Frank worked for 30 years and retired from the PB&NE Railroad.

Once retired, he was very busy. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Frank was seen almost everywhere a good cup of coffee was served.

Along with a few buddies, he made three motorcycle trips to Sturges and two trips across the country.

He was an excellent carpenter, making many pieces of furniture, clocks and tables.

He was sought after to complete specialty projects requiring detailed woodworking. His experiences restoring antiques and woodworking talents were locally-known.

Some of his work is found in local colleges, hospitals, homes and businesses.

His hobbies included panning for gold, Indian artifact collecting, making knives, restoring antique guns, manufacturing his own flint lock long rifles, fishing from his boat or clamming in New Jersey, and least not forget, making pickled pigs' feet with Dizzer.

Frank is survived by his wife, Carol (Pursley) Flizack. They enjoyed a marriage of 68 years.

Frank has a sister, Margaret (Flizack) Diercks, of Port Clinton, and a brother, Edward, and sister-in-law, Mary Flizack, of Warren, .NJ.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Flizack.

Frank and Carol have three children along with their spouses, Frank O. Flizack, Debra (Moser) Flizack, Brenda (Flizack) Melicharek, Paul Melicharek, Joan Marie (Flizack) Brown and Ron Brown; seven grandchildren along with their spouses, Elissa (Flizack) and Mark Remmel, Frank D. and Erin Flizack, Ben and Kelsey Flizack, Paul and Amy Melicharek, David Melicharek, Michael and Caroline Binder, Victoria Binder and significant other, Jeremey Farrington; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tobin Flizack, Bastian Flizack, Maverick Flizack, Benjamin Remmel, Annalise Remmel, Luke Melicharek, Liam Melicharek, Kelsey Balliet, Patrick Binder, Kennedy Farrington and Mason Farrington.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
