Joyce Smarr Obituary
Joyce A. Smale Smarr, 84 years young, passed away peacefully with her children surrounding her on Nov. 30, 2024, in the ICU of the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.
Joyce was born and raised in Reading, and lived in Tamaqua for about 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy (Pellicotti) Andrzejewski; her father, a World War II fallen veteran, George Smale; brothers, Anthony (Bunny) and Edgie Andrzejewski; her husband, Tony Smarr, who died in 1982; and a baby grandson, Michael Smarr.
Surviving are her children, Lori A. Smarr Strauch and her husband, Bill, of Jim Thorpe, Mark Smarr and his wife, Melissa, of Palmerton, Ted Smarr and his wife, Linda, of Barnesville, and Tony Smarr and his wife, Jackie, of Pottsville; grandchildren, Brandi Lee Strauch Thear, Brian Terry, Eric Smarr and his wife, Tanisha, Matthew Smarr, Olivia Smarr and Pastor Luke Anthony Strauch and his wife, Kelsey; and a great-granddaughter, Rosa Lee Thear.
Service: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Bethany Wesleyan Church, 1122 Fairyland Road, Lehighton. The Cremation Society of PA is in charge of the arrangements.

Mark and Melissa, So sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. The few times I met her she was always able to bring laughter to the room. Sharp and witty. I know she will be missed by your entire family. She is at peace, no more pain. Dancing with the angels. RIP Joyce, you will always be remembered by us!
