Kathryn Chickilly Obituary

Mrs. Kathryn M. Chickilly

Mrs. Kathryn M. Chickilly, 101, of Summit Hill, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 23, 2025, in her residence. She was the widow of Robert Chickilly, who passed away April 5, 1984.

She worked as the secretary and treasurer for the Summit Hill Borough for 11 years until her retirement in 1985.

Born in Summit Hill, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Sr. and Irene (Sorber) Rickert.

She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving as corporal during World War II as parachute rigger. She was a member of the Summit Hill Methodist Church and the Summit Hill American Legion Post 316.

Kathryn enjoyed watching old movies on TV, but especially loved the precious time she spent with her family.

Surviving are daughters, Lauren Chickilly, with whom she was living in Summit Hill, and Lynda Chickilly of Northampton; sisters, Florence Kusko, and her husband, Edward, of Summit Hill, and Doris Risavy and Ruthann Abbey, both in Florida; a daughter-in-law, Gail Chickilly of Nesquehoning; grandchildren, Denise Kennedy, Amy Beth Chickilly, and her companion, Roosevelt Callirgos, and Christopher Janis; a great-granddaughter, Dahlin Janis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Chickilly; a grandson, Michael Janis; a sister, Joan Brode; and brothers, Norman, Eugene, Louis and Gordon.

Service: Memorial service 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, First Congregational Church, 123 E. Ruddle St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack and the Rev. Jeremy Benack officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. in the church. Summit Hill American Legion military honors 10:45 a.m. Friday in the church. Arrangements by Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, Nesquehoning. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the church, 18218. Online condolences can be offered at www.blazoskyfh.com.
