Mrs. Melba V. Fritz

Mrs. Melba V. Fritz, 92, of Long Run Road, Franklin Township, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, in her home, surrounded by loving family. She was the wife of Charles W. Fritz. They were married for 47 years.

Born in Andreas, she was a daughter of the late Kermit and Blanche (Fritz) Steigerwalt.

Before retiring, she worked for over 30 years as seamstress at The Hofford Mill, Weissport.

She was a member of Jacob's United Church of Christ, Weissport, for many years, and was a former member of Ben Salem United Church of Christ, Mahoning Township. Lehighton.

She and Charles were longtime former members of the Cypress Lanes Bowling Lanes League.

Melba loved baking, fishing, quilting and traveling with Charles.

Besides Charles, she is survived by two sons, Richard "Butch" Strausberger Jr., and his wife, Monica, of Kunkletown, and Bruce Strausberger of Lehighton; a brother, Dale Steigerwalt, and his wife, Joan, of Fullertown; four grandchildren, Jenni, wife of Michael Leiby, Alyssa, wife of Glen Cathers, Joseph Strausberger and Jesse Strausberger, and his wife, Tiffany, nine great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and three nieces.

She was also predeceased by a daughter, Judith Strausberger.

Special "Thanks" goes to her full-time nurse and caretaker, Rebecca Calmona.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, Ben Salem United Church of Christ, 1965 Church Hill Rd., Lehighton, with Pastor Randy Lentz officiating. Interment will follow the service in Ben Salem Cemetery, adjacent to the church. Viewing 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday in the church. The Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, is in charge of the arrangements.
