Richard W. Kantor
Richard W. Kantor, 72, of Tamaqua, died on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Salisbury Township.
Born in Coal-
dale, on July 8, 1948, he was a son of the late Emil "Ed" W. and Jeanne L. (nee Rinkenberg) Kantor.
A 1966 graduate of Marian High School, Richard earned an associate degree from Williamsport Community College.
With his civil engineering training, he worked for several local construction companies in the role of surveying, estimating and inspecting.
Richard was a member of the National Guard and a member of the Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua. He also was a member of the Tamaqua Baseball Association, where he served as a former vice president, secretary and coach.
Richard loved to fish, hunt, and follow Yankees baseball and Notre Dame football.
A kindhearted, giving person, Richard especially bestowed his kindness and generosity on his family; and he loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori Fannock and her husband, John, of Andreas; son, Stephen Kantor and his wife, Courtney, of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Nate Fannock, Zach Fannock, Kyle Kantor, Michael Kantor, Brody Kantor, Joseph Kantor, Andre Kantor and Declan Kantor; a sister, Cheryl Keifer and her husband, Dale, of Andreas; sister-
in-law, Anna Mae Kantor of Berwick, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Fannock in 2018 and a brother, Jeffrey Kantor in 2017.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Call from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials in Richard's name may be made to the Tamaqua Baseball Association, c/o William Angst, 986 Catawissa Road, Tamaqua, PA 18252.
Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua, to occur at a later date.
Attendees are reminded of the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines and are kindly asked to wear a mask and observe physical distancing.
