Brian Kinsella Obituary

Brian Kinsella

Brian Edward Kinsella, 64 of Bean Station, Tennessee and formerly of Temperance, Michigan joined his parents and sister (Marilyn) in heaven on October 14, 2018. Brian was born on February 11, 1954 in Barrie, Ontario.

Brian lived out his hockey dream from a young age in winning Silversticks, playing in the NHL under contract with the Washington Capitals, plus playing many years in the IHL, winning three Turner Cups.

After his playing career ended, Brian was a local referee, becoming president of the referee association.

An important part of Brian's life was passing on his knowledge of hockey to young players. He coached for many years eventually becoming head coach of St. Francis De Sales High School where they won the school's first State Championship.

Brian worked as a board certified Orthotist for over 30 years before retiring.

Brian's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura, who have been together for over 40 years; his pride and joy in his life were his two sons, Derek (Laura) and Kevin; and being "Papa" to his three beautiful granddaughters, Sophia, Clara, and Kinley. Also survived by brothers, Gerry (Sandy) and Steve (Jennifer) Kinsella.

To Brian's Family,
To all who knew "Kins" around Toledo in the Hockey and Ortho community one word comes to mind. That word is "Prince" of a guy.

He was a great guy to play pick up with , have a few beers and just enjoy having a chat. It is no surprise that he paid it forward and became such a caring mentor to a lot of hopeful young people.

The game and the Toledo Area will miss his great personality and kind ways.

May he rest in peace with all of those he has loved.

Laura, Derek, Kevin and Family,

It was a pleasure to know your loved one. Brian was a great human being and a good friend. He had a wonderful demeanor and was a first class individual. He loved his family and he lived and breathed hockey. We have lost a positive, thoughtful and caring man, but we can all be thankful to God for Blessing us with his presence. Till we meet again my friend, our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.
