Cameron Morgan Steinberg's journey into this world was only for two short months, but the impact she left on many will last a lifetime. Born September 24, 2018 to Melissa (Hatfield) and Sam Steinberg, Cami had a congenital heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), that found her in need of several open-heart surgeries for survival. Unfortunately, born five weeks early, her underdeveloped lungs never healed enough for her to have those potentially life extending surgeries.

Cami, our little Heart Warrior, fought valiantly in her effort to grow strong, but she passed away the morning of November 23. Thanksgiving will never be the same, but Cami's story and the time we had with her is something we will always be thankful for.

To honor Cami's brief life, donations can be made in her memory to the Cameron Morgan Steinberg Research Fund within the University of Michigan's Congenital Heart Center at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and would be greatly appreciated. The address is listed below. The entire family would like to thank the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and the incredibly professional and caring physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other staff for providing Cami with unbelievable care and support along her journey.

Cami is survived by her strong, loving parents, Melissa and Sam, grandparents, Sharon and Kermit Hatfield and Linda Steinberg and Jack Rex, Dan Steinberg; and great-grandmother, Janet Steinberg; aunts Stephanie Hatfield, Stacy Steinberg, Mikala Shimmel, uncles Zack Hatfield, Benji Steinberg, Ryan Dreisch and cousins Kadence, Bryce and Hadley Hatfield. As attested by her PostHope.org blog, she is also survived by hundreds of loving family and friends whose lives she touched frequently in two short months.

A special thanks to all those people who shared Cameron's journey and provided meals, baked goods, gift cards, baby gifts and much more allowing all of us to be as comfortable as possible. Also, thanks to Rabbi Rick Kellner from Congregation Beth Tikvah in Columbus and David Levy from Epstein Memorial Chapel in Columbus for their guidance and support during our difficult times.
