David Tipping Obituary

David H. Tipping

10/12/1940 - 08/19/2021

David H. Tipping, 80, of Curtice, Ohio and formerly of Toledo passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in his home. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 12, 1940 to William and Santa Maria (Fortunato) Tipping. Dave was a US Army veteran, and he served 25 years with the Toledo Fire Department spending most of those years at Station 6 and 21. Dave established Marine Fire Sales and Service, a successful local business for over 38 years.

Dave was a long-time member of the Toledo Ski Club and treasured all things Lake Erie. He had a passion for travel, especially being on the water: fishing, scuba-diving, and boating. He loved all sorts of adventures from skiing the Alps to enjoying beach sunsets around the world. Mexico had a special place in his heart. He was an avid sports-fan, and always reveled in cheering on the Buckeyes.

Dave was a one-of-a-kind man. He was intentionally positive and humble; he had a huge heart. As a paramedic, firefighter, and business owner he never let the stresses of his day interfere with his happiness or in the happiness he brought to the world. He was a true hero; he saved many lives. In addition to being known as a grill-master, Dave was the king of chill, generous in many ways and kind. Dave was a loving and supportive husband. His big smile, love and laugh will be missed.

Surviving are his loving wife, Kelley; daughter, Kristin Ward (Michael) and grandson John David Johnson; and son, Jayson Tipping. David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Boland and mother-in-law, Gretchen Zahn.

Dave's daughter, Kristin, notes the importance of this Harper Lee quote: "She did not stand alone, but what stood behind her, the most potent moral force in her life, was the love of her father."

Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the Toledo Fire Department's Last Alarm service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Kelley and Family,

Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.
Plenty of memories with Dave.
During the time while managing the Heinz Distribution Center in Toledo, Marine was our service provider.
When we had after hours fire system problems. (Usually on a weekend between midnight and 3am) I would contact Dave and he would show up immediately with a pipe wrench and a smile. Dave would find the root cause of the trouble and sometimes stay all night to get things back to normal. The business was successful not only on mechanical ability, the smile and personality was another path to success. There will be no replacement for Dave, just great memories that will last forever.

God Bless!
