Diane Bernstein Obituary
Diane Steinberg Bernstein, November 1, 1940, died peacefully at Hospice of NW Ohio on Saturday, September 27, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in New York, New York, to Dr. A.H. and Elaine Steinberg, both originally from Toledo. They returned to Toledo where Diane graduated from Ottawa Hills High School. She married Joseph J. Bernstein and they raised one son, Dr. Andrew Bernstein (Livingston, NJ). Diane was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Over the years, she contributed her time to the Toledo Jewish News, Temple Shomer Emunim, and the Toledo Museum of Art.
Diane is survived by her son, Andrew; his wife, Dr. Stacy Bernstein; grandchildren, Mia and Rhys; her sister, Patti Gerbie (Melvin); and many devoted caregivers.
She was very proud to be a member of the large Steinberg family and will be terribly missed. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in Woodlawn Cemetery.

I am saddened to learn of my dear old friend's passing. And today is her birthday. Diane was a true friend going way back to junior high grade at Ottawa Hills. So many fond memories. Love you Diane.

Diane was a kind and caring person. She loved her home and people and people loved her. She will be remembered always by family and friend. My heart goes out to her son who cared for her so well my love and sympathy to all Jan Steinberg.

So sorry to hear about Diane. We were good friends in high school. Visited often at family affairs. Sorry to be unable to be in Toledo but Barry and I are in Atlanta. May you always remember the good times you shared.
