Edward Bodette Obituary

BODETTE Edward J. Jr. Edward J. Bodette Jr., 88, of Oregon, Ohio, passed peacefully November 10, 2009. The oldest child of Edward and Alicia Bodette, he graduated from Central Catholic High School, and then served as passionate patriot in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a retired sales engineer who worked for Quaker Rubber, Johns Manville, LOF and Anderson's. Afterwards he spent many hours volunteering for charities. Ed expressed his opinions regularly in the Blade Editorials where they were enjoyed by readers over the past 25 years. His family delighted in his lifelong keen wit, intelligence, sense of humor and attentive interest in all of his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to Betty Bodette until her death at age 40. Later he married Mary Ellen Hieber and they enjoyed their combined family of nine. He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Alicia; brothers, Dick, Gene and Joe, and sister, Rita. He is survived by daughters, Julie (Jalovek (Steve), Barbara Bodette, Judy (Dave) Stead; sons, Charles (Arleen) and Thomas (Susan); brother, Robert (Loretta) Bodette and sister Alice (Don) Calabrese. Dozens of loving nieces, nephews and grandchildren will miss their uncle and grandfather. A private service will be held in the chapel of St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The family suggests contributions to Ed's favorite charity, Helping Hands of Toledo.

Dear Cousins,
Uncle Ed always inquired about his brother Dick and kept him in his prayers, for which we were most grateful. He sent us e-mail jokes and messages frequently. You've got to admire an 80+ year old who still keeps up with his e-mail. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Julie...so sorry to see your fathers passing. What a shame that Steve Cedoz and myself also have our father's on this page today. I am sure they were all good men and left too soon for our families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.
