Eugene E. HOWARD

HOWARD Eugene E. Eugene "Gene" Howard, 83, formerly of Toledo, passed away Saturday, October 1st, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on January 26, 1928 in Toledo to Clarence and Bessie (Truman) Howard. Gene worked 36 plus years at the Toledo Edison, finishing his career there as a Senior Control Operator. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and enjoyed telling people he served a total of 3 years, 3 months and 3 days. Upon his retirement, Gene and his wife of 61 years, Dolores, enjoyed many years at their retirement properties in East Jordan, MI and Nokomis, FL. During those years he enjoyed golfing with friends, following politics and time spent at the casinos. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; children, Michael (Sandy), Jeffery (Karen), Patrick (Becky), David (Anna), Kelly Marie, Martin (Karen), Andrew (Donna); brother, Harold (Thelma); 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Gene's life will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 729 White Street, Toledo, OH on Friday, October 7th at 11 a.m., where the family will receive condolences from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. The family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassion and care during Eugene's difficult journey.
