James Rowland Obituary
James Lloyd Rowland, Sr., 86, of Toledo, Ohio went home and into the arms of his maker on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Born December 23, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Dean Lloyd and Margaret Mary (Swantack) Rowland; he defined how a Good Man lives.
He worked over 50 years as a carpenter, general building contractor, and mechanical maintenance engineer. He proudly served in Korea for the US Army where he met his wife of 49 years, Hwa-Jah (Lee) Rowland, who proceeded home in 2010. He leaves behind a large family including Jean Rowland-Poplawski, James and Kelly (Phillips) Rowland, Thomas and Paula (Roberts) Rowland, Anthony and Tonia (Jacobs) Rowland, Dean and Kelly (Vogelpohl) Rowland, Tommy and April (Machnicki) Fleck, and Samantha (Fleck) and Timothy Morrissey. In addition, there are 49 grand- and great-grandchildren to carry on his tradition of designing and building, riding motorcycles, hunting, exploring, and laughing at the world around us.
His family would like to express their gratitude to Shirley Cole for caring for him in his last years and the ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence and Merit House for assisting with his transition.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 5th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611. Services will be Monday, February 6th at 1 p.m. with burial immediately following at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park with military honors provided by the VFW Post # 606. Memorial contributions may be made to the veteran's organization of the donor's choice. Online expressions of sympathy and stories of love may be made by visiting
