Big Jim was one of the most unique and unforgettable persons I have ever known. Our condolences to the Streicher family. I got to know Jim primarily through his Tuesday afternoon appearances following his drive from Findlay and his time spent with several of us at "The Cafe Marie" in Maumee. I was a Toledo athlete and well remember Jim working on campus, helping coaches, driving players places, being a complete "Rocket man." Always adept at making connections, I only met Mrs. Streicher one time but big Jim told me she was from Clay High School and since I had taught at Clay High School twenty six years we had a great conversation on the sidewalk outside "The Cafe Marie." If I remember correctly, Mrs. Streicher and Hank Spring were at Clay together. Hank was a '52 Eagle graduate. Loved Jim's bubbling enthusiasm when telling a story. He had such a retentive mind, could pull back details and describe things in such a colorful and interesting manner. I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona three years ago so I missed seeing Jim the past few years. I will never forget big Jim. What a guy!!!!!
