I'm so sorry for the loss of Jan. I have amazing childhood memories of watching his collection of films with my family usually after Chinese food with Aunt Marie and Rob too. I always felt so cool as a kid having his books and they were all autographed by the author, my second cousin. I'll never forget him.
Praying for all of you and sending you love.

Jan Wahl is a wonderous writer, who had both the gift of storytelling and the gift of making words pop and crackle, rather than just lie on the page.
I've enjoyed his work as a reader over and over again. Now, as an author, I have deliberately tried to learn from the master.
Thank you, Jan Wahl!

I worked with Jan for more than twenty years through his work with our Gish Film Theater at BGSU. He was a good friend. Sincere condolences to Michael, Douglas, and Robert, as well as to all who knew Jan.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Jan for the last 10 years at least and we became friends. We shared a love of classic cinema and literature. Jan was a very generous and smart man who kept his sharp mind right up until the end.
My wife and I are very glad to have known him and wish our acquiescence had been much longer.
He will be missed as a friend, an author, a silent film historian, at the Toledo Museum of Art and at the Palace Theater, among many other places.
RIP my friend
