Sister Jeanne OSF STACK

STACK Sister Jeanne OSF (1925 - 2010) Sister Jeanne Stack died on June 3, 2010, at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, OH. Jeanne was born to Warren and Jeanne Stack on March 14, 1925 in Batavia, NY. She entered the convent on January 19, 1961, made her First Profession of Vows on August 10, 1963 and her Final Vows on August 10, 1968. Sister Jeanne spent most of her life in health care ministry first as a nurse, then as a nursing instructor, Director of Providence School of Nursing in Sandusky, OH, Administrator/President of Providence Hospital in Sandusky and Director of Education and Mission Effectiveness for Franciscan Services Corporation in Sylvania. Her other accomplishments are many and varied and those she was most pleased with were her teaching at various educational levels, developing the Values Program for FSC, and keeping the Sylvania Franciscan Archives organized and up to date. Sister Jeanne had a lifelong interest in nursing education, genealogy and quilting. She was a lifelong learner and attended many courses and workshops in theology, Scripture and spirituality. Her love of learning extended to travels to Canada and Europe and she helped others learn by participating in the Read for Literacy Program in Toledo. In the course of her long life, Sister Jeanne contributed her organizational skills and knowledge to a long list of professional, scientific, cultural, religious and civic programs and committees. She received many awards and honors and had several articles published. Sister Jeanne was still engaged in ministry as chairperson of Franciscan Properties in Sylvania and participated in many opportunities for growth and enrichment offered at Rosary Care Center. She will be missed by her Sisters in community and her loving family. She will be welcomed home at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in a special ceremony in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Motherhouse of the Sylvania Franciscans. A liturgy celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010 in the Chapel. Donations and memorials may be sent to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, OH.
