Jerry Bishop

BISHOP Jerry James Jerry Bishop, age 81, of Toledo died on Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Jerry was born in Sylvania on December 17, 1926, the first of three sons to John and Anna (Szafranski) Bishop. He was a graduate of Sylvania Burnham High School and served with the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific. He helped his father and brothers manage farms in Sylvania and Toledo. In 1950 he married Wini Murphy of Roscommon, Ireland in Clearwater, FL. He was employed at Sealtest Dairy and Gerity Schultz Products. He earned his certification from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy and served 26 years as a Policeman at the University of Toledo retiring in 1993. Jerry was a member of Little Flower Catholic Parish, Old Newsboys Goodfellows, Remagen Bridge VFW Post, Ohio FOP and Teamsters. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wini T. Bishop; son, Jim (Maureen) and beloved grandchildren, Mary, Patrick, Bridget, Joseph and Claire. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. at Little Flower Parish, Dorr St. Toledo preceding the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
