John "Jack" Krueger

John "Jack" Martin Krueger, 89, of Liberty Center, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 12, 2026. He was born on December 24, 1936, to the late Paul and Laura (Mabus) Krueger, in Napoleon, Ohio. On September 10, 1955, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Schwab, and spent a loving 70 years together.

Jack was a graduate of Liberty Center High School and lifelong supporter of Liberty Center Athletics and its community. During his high school career, he played basketball for Liberty Center and had the honor of earning Senior year Team MVP, NWOAL Honorable Mention awards. After high school, Jack was a scorekeeper for LC JV and Varsity basketball teams, helping with tournaments and clock starting. He participated in the chain gang for the football team and was the announcer for 46 years. He won the NW Ohio Football Coaches Association Pete Moore Merit Award in 2020. Jack also mowed the trail for the cross-country team when they competed at Widewater. He was nominated for the Jefferson Award for his lifelong dedication to Liberty Centers community, sports, churches, and school. During his later years, he spent much time with his wife, Marilyn, traveling to all 50 states and all seven continents around the world. He was a very proud lifelong blood donor for the Red Cross and donated nearly 200 units of blood, while also serving on the County Red Cross board. Jack was a loving man to not only his family, but his community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marilyn Krueger; children, Joe (Cindy) Krueger and Phil (Margy) Krueger; grandson, Matthew (Ryan Foust) Krueger; siblings, Bill Krueger and Carol Florey; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Krueger.

Friends and family will be received at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held for Jack on Thursday, March 19, at St. Patrick's Providence Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, Ohio, at 10:30 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior to mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Liberty Center Athletic Boosters, Henry County Hospital Foundation, St. Patrick's Catholic Providence Catholic Church-Stained Glass Restoration, or the donor's choice. Jack was a dear friend to our entire family. We spent many wonderful hours with him at Polka Fests and school activities. He was a huge supporter of kids and their sporting endeavors. Jack was a man who made a difference in the community and his church. He will be greatly missed.
