John Merren Obituary

John E. Merren

John E. Merren, age 79, of Temperance, MI, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Regency Hospital surrounded by loving family. He was born on November 1, 1941 to John and Leora Merren in Cedar Springs, Michigan. John graduated in 1959 from Cedar Springs High School. He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. John enjoyed doing puzzles, hunting, farming and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid baseball fan especially of the Detroit Tigers. John was a lifetime member of Mudjaw Bowmen. He had a great sense of humor and liked spending time with his family and grandchildren. John's smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad, Albert Smith; grandson, Joey Rysdyk; niece, Kim Merren; nephews, Phillip and Scott Merren; and brothers, Bill and Don Merren. Left to cherish John's memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Pat Merren; daughter, Anita Groelsma; sons, John, Michael (Lynn) and Timothy (Alyssa) Merren; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Chuck) Crosby; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Details to follow. Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
