Marc Rohloff Obituary

ROHLOFF

Marc D.

Marc D. Rohloff, 60, of Perrysburg, Ohio, left this life unexpectedly to continue the second part of his journey. He was a loving husband and a wonderful friend. Marc was born on June 21, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Robert and Priscilla (Ziegler) Rohloff. He graduated from Start High School (where he was dubbed by fellow students as "the guy most likely to make a living creating comic strips"). Marc completed his degree in communications from Toledo University. He worked for General Telephone, which turned into GTE, which turned into Verizon and retired after 37 years.

Marc met that "Brown-eyed girl" in 1979 and after a much aspired and lengthy courtship married Anna Maria Kennedy on August 27, 1988. Sporting an outlandish sense of humor and a pronounced ability to play exceptional golf (bear in mind he was the one counting strokes), Marc also enjoyed whitewater rafting, table billiards and bowling. Marc was an exceptional singer and performed as a member of the Toledo Symphony Chorale Ensemble, as a tenor.

Marc was a Past Master of the Robinson-Locke Masonic Lodge. He loved sports and in particular followed the progress of the Detroit Tigers and the Red Wings. Marc was a very gregarious soul with an uncanny ability to make others feel at ease.

He is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Anna; as well as many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

In Marc's honor a simple farewell gathering and memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St. Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) with time of service at 5:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Toledo Humane Society. Condolences to the family may be made by visiting

Dearest Marc

From Your Brown-Eyed Girl

I can't remember when you weren't there,

When I didn't care for anyone but you,

I swear we've been through everything there is,

Can't imagine anything we've missed,

Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do.

Through the years, you've never let me down.

You turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found

I've found with you... Through the years

I've never been afraid, I've loved the life we've made.

And I'm so glad I've stayed, right here with you

Through the years.

I can't remember what I used to do,

Who I trusted and who I listened to before.

I swear, you taught me everything I know,

Can't imagine needing someone so,

But through the years it seems to me

I need you more and more.

Through the years, through all the good and bad,

I KNOW how much we had, I've always been so glad

To be with you... Through the years

It's better every day, you've kissed my tears away

As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you

Through the years.

Through the years, when everything went wrong,

Together we were strong, I know that I belong

Right here with you... Through the years

I never had a doubt, we'd always work things out

I've learned what life's about, by loving you

Through the years.

Annie,
I am very sorry to hear of Marc's passing. I have only just learned of your loss. Lewis and I are so sorry that we missed Marc's memorial service and were unable to express our condolences in person. I did see the many wonderful pictures posted online and I was very moved by the touching sentiments in the obituary. It is easy to see how much you loved each other.
Although I did not spend a lot of time with Marc, recently, as a couple of old telephone guys, we had a genuine and unique bond. He was a good man and will be missed.
If there is anything that I or Lee can do for you during this very difficult time please give me a call.
We love and miss you.

Anna

I just heard about Marc's passing. I knew Marc ever since I was a little boy, I'm 49 now. Marc parents were best friends with mine and we all spent a lot of time together when I was young. I can still remember Marc's old AMC Gremlin. I remember just how HAPPY he always was and especially the day of your wedding. It was clear how much he loved you. I lost touch with Marc after I moved from the area in 1997 but he did cross my mind from time to time and I hoped that all was well and he was happy. By all accounts that seems to have been the case..although 60 is too young for sure and for that I am truly sorry for your loss. Treasure the time you had together and trust that you'll be together again.
Take care

Annie, I am very sorry for your loss. I've known Marc for ages, since early childhood anyway. We used to walk home after Sunday School at Reformation. I would walk to my grandparents, he would walk to his house. He was a great guy.

When my sister, Annie, met Marc, I was graduating from high school and preparing for college. After my first semester in college, I came home and recall getting to know Marc better. Marc joined me and some other guys for dinner and a trip to a local club. I will never forget that evening because when we were driving to the club Marc told me how much he loved my sister. He said it in a sincere way, expressing that he had met his soul mate. He and Annie traveled a great distance to attend my college graduation and I appreciated that they were with me on that special day. Although it seems like yesterday, it is now 29 years later. Marc was Annie's rock. Marc was Annie's love. Marc was Annie's soul mate. At age 60, Marc has left us to join God's Kingdom. Only the good die so young. Rest in piece Marc. You were a good friend to me. You were my sister's true love. You will be missed so much.
