Margaret Baumgartner Obituary

Margaret A. "Margie" Baumgartner

Margaret Ann (Flagg) Baumgartner, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, January 13, 2022, with her loving family by her side at home in Ottawa Lake, MI. She was born on October 18, 1940, in Toledo, OH, to Melvin and Zella (Groves) Flagg.

She was a 1958 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School and entered the workforce. Here, she wasn't just Margaret. She became Margie to most people. This was especially true at MTS Seating in Temperance, MI, where she worked as a personnel manager for many years until retiring in 2000.

Margie enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching birds, raising her chickens and feeding the wildlife in the yard. She liked projects and refinishing furniture as well. Margie was a longtime member of Bedford Alliance Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren. Margie's smile, spirit and generous caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Spanning back 49 years ago, Margie met and married Jim Baumgartner, the love of her life. This connection was undeniable from the start and will remain forever. Also left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Susan (Tim) Heiden, Bobby Baumgartner, Jimmy (Tina) Baumgartner, Cheri (Steve) Libertore, and David (Tina) Baumgartner; her loyal dog, Kevin; she was also thrilled to be Grammy to grandchildren, Shelby, Adam, Kirsten, Gabrielle, Evan, Chase, Karleigh, and Connor; sisters-in-law, Carol and Shirley Flagg, Rose Slagle, and Barbara Hester; brothers-in-law, Eddie, Richard (Lynn), Robert (Terri) Baumgartner and Billy Lagger; many nieces and nephews as far west as Colorado and as far south as Georgia; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim and Bill Flagg; brothers-in-law, Jim Slagle and Albert Baumgartner; sister-in-law, Sandy Lagger.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday, January 21, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Nature's Nursery, 7790 Co. Rd. 152, Whitehouse, OH 43571 (https://www.natures-nursery.org/)

The family sends a special thank you to close family friend, Sue Ely, Nurse Barb from the 7th floor at ProMedica Flower Hospital, and Renee from Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
