Marvin Keller Obituary

Marvin E. Keller

Marvin "Bart" Edward Keller, age 74, passed away on January 23, 2022. Marv was born in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Lydia (Siewert) Keller. He was baptized in the Church of the Open Bible, Toledo, Ohio. As a kid, he played "cowboys and indians" with his friends and would role play "Black Bart." The nickname stuck with many of his family and friends into adulthood. He graduated from Waite High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Carol Hecklinger, and they were married in 1968. He graduated from the University of Toledo in finance and law, passing the Ohio Bar exam in 1975. Marv has worked for Ohio Citizens Bank in the trust department, the law firm Marshall & Melhorn, First Federal Savings and Loan Association in the trust department, and has been in private practice for the balance of his career. In his younger years, he enjoyed tennis and bowling. He loved to tell the story of the time he bowled a 299 (and a wiggle) in the Toledo Chamber of Commerce bowling league. Marv and Carol traveled to Switzerland to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary and were able to visit the town where Marv's father was born. Marv was always busy with family and friends and enjoyed belonging to a gourmet group with friends for more than 35 years. Over the years he served on church council at both First St. John and later Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg.

Marv is survived by his children, Jennifer Keller and Julie (Bryan) Skrzyniecki; grandchildren, Nathan Skrzyniecki, Leah Skrzyniecki and Megan Skrzyniecki; sister-in-laws, Joanne Crandall, Elaine (J. Michael) Cutcher, and Ruth Dake; niece, Laura (Derek) Zylka with children, Donald, Zachary and Audrey; nephews, Zoltan Ivan with children Zoltan and Marie, Paul Cutcher, David (Abigail) Keller, Gregory (Rebekah) Keller; and family friend, Randy Schnee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years; his parents; and brothers, David and Philip.

Following Covid protocols, visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Road, Toledo, Ohio, 43605 from 1:00 p.m. until time of his funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at First St. John Cemetery.
