Melvin WEIGEL Obituary

WEIGEL Melvin Richard Melvin Richard Weigel, age 86, of Archbold, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold. He retired from the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation in Toledo. Melvin was born in Toledo to the late Arthur and the late Lola (Montgomery) Weigel. On October 25, 1952, he married Jean Atwell, and she preceded him in death 2008. They had been married 55 years. Melvin attended Zion United Methodist Church on Copeland Ave. in Toledo. A Navy Veteran of WWII, he had served on a minesweeper. He was a graduate of Macomber High School in Toledo. He also attended the University of Toledo where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Education. Surviving is one daughter, Linda (Fred) Heberling of Toledo; one son, Clifford (Marilyn) Weigel of Stryker; two grandchildren Erik (Jolie) Heberling; Shawn Weigel; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Heberling; and two sisters, Dorothy Kridel and Marie Weigel, both of Toledo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in the Chapel at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, 407 E. Lutz Rd., Archbold, Ohio, with Pastor Crystal Goodnight, officiating. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold on Tuesday from 2 - 4 P.M. and 6 - 8 P.M., and on Wednesday in the Chapel at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Deepest regrets on the loss of Uncle Melvin. I'll always treasure the memories of the annual summer reunions,the holiday get-togethers and the love that Uncle Mel shared with all of us.
