Osha Carsten Obituary
Osha Mae
Osha Mae Carsten, age 95, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio's Toledo Care Center. She was born August 6, 1919, to Millard and Rosa (Gregory) Burke in Bell Farm, Kentucky. A homemaker, Osha worked at Lamson's Department Store in the Ladies Dress Department, and at the St. Regis Paper Company. She was a charter member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Toledo. Osha, with her husband Barton, participated in bowling leagues at Glass Bowl and University Lanes. She enjoyed planting and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens all summer long. Upon harvesting the vegetables, she would spend hours in the kitchen canning tomatoes, onions and green peppers, although her family's favorite kitchen confection were her chocolate chip cookies. Osha's love for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandson was the joy of her life, cherishing every precious moment she spent with them.
Osha is survived by her sons, Donald (Clara) Carsten and Randy (Terri) Carsten; grandchildren, Shelly White, Laura (Oscar) Eichhorn, Michael (Cynthia) Carsten and Stacie (Kevin) Wood; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson, and sister, Elizabeth Loveland. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Barton Carsten in 2012, and grandson, Christopher Bryan.
Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Monday, May 11 at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service for Osha will begin at 12 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Scott Smith Presiding. Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery, Graytown, Ohio.
