Paul Rehfeldt Obituary
Paul Frederick Rehfeldt passed away on April 11, 2023. He was born in Toledo on February 10, 1938, to LeRoy and Pauline (Maxwell) Rehfeldt. A life-long resident of South Toledo, he graduated from Macomber High School in 1957.
He dreamed of working for new car dealerships as a teenager and worked as a mechanic for numerous dealers until retirement. He also worked at Bostwick-Braun for several years.
His love for cars meant he always owned a classic car. He built a Model A Ford by buying pieces that he assembled and then drove the car for fifteen years before selling it. His hobby was buying wheel covers and fixing them up to sell to other car collectors thus earning the nickname of the hubcap guy. He loved to attend car shows, cruise nights and swap meets.
Paul married Rae Joyce Myers Thompson on December 10, 1976. After retiring in 1991, they spent twenty years traveling around the country until Rae's death in 2012. As members of Calvary Assembly of God, Paul always said his job was to help Rae in her many activities.
Paul married Donna Kay Christian on June 30, 2018, after meeting her at the Toledo History Museum. He was drawn to check out the museum and her after seeing an article about the museum in The Blade in 2015. Again, he felt that his job was to assist her in her activities at the museum.
He was a member of Calvary Church, Lancers Car Club, Toledo Area Street Rodders, and the Toledo History Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; stepson, Scott (Julie) Thompson; stepdaughter, Stacey (Phil) Henderson; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rae and his stepson, Timothy Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Church at 1360 Conant Street on Tuesday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at noon. Burial at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park was private. Memorial gifts may be made to Toledo History Museum, PO Box 485, Toledo, OH 43697-0485. Arrangements by Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue.
