Randy Raudebaugh Obituary

Randy Raudebaugh

Captain Randy Sherman Raudebaugh, 73, of Slippery Rock, PA, went into the heavens on July 7, 2023, with his soulmate, Bonnie, by his side holding his hand.

Randy was born November 13, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio. He was the middle child of the late Doris Jean (Ohliger) and Samuel Harrison Raudebaugh and brother to Ricky "Rick" Herbert and Renee Marie. A 1967 graduate of Bedford High School in Temperance, MI, he married his best friend, Bonnie Leigh (Wilcox), on August 9,1974. Together for 49 years, they created a lasting legacy of love and commitment by allowing each other to follow their dreams. Captain Randy was a Charter Captain on the Western Basin of Lake Erie spending 47 years mastering his craft on the water. He was one of the original daily Lake Erie Charter Captains that has been referred to as a legend on the lake due to his knowledge in the fishing community. He was featured in numerous sport fishing articles such as Ohio Fisherman, Fishing Facts, Outdoor Life, Great Lakes Fisherman and featured articles in various Ohio newspapers. Randy was also filmed as a guide for sport fishing episodes with Roland Martin and numerous others demonstrating his expertise as an angler. He was a true outdoorsman that loved wildlife and the epitome of an excellent family man.

Randy's career afforded him the opportunity to be the caretaker of his three greatest accomplishments, Brooke Marie, Chase Sherman and Chad Herbert Long before it was the norm, Randy was a hands on father teaching them family first, do what you love and to reveal in God's beautiful masterpieces of nature. As proud as he was of his children and the lives they created it pales in comparison to his 7 grandchildren, Morgan Marie Huntington, Brody David Samuel Huntington, Reed Isaac Raudebaugh, Ryder Benjamin James Raudebaugh, Hunter Sherman Raudebaugh, Leeland Roy Page, and Fynn Jacob Holstine who he adored. Randy loved listening to their "tales" for Grandpa and teaching them how to catch the big fish.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie (Wilcox) of Slippery Rock; his three children, Brooke (Robert) Huntington also of Slippery Rock, Chase (Lyndsey) Raudebaugh of Superior, WI and Chad Raudebaugh of Lawton, OK and his seven grandchildren. Randy is also survived by his beloved sister, Renee Eckel of Maumee, Ohio and her boyfriend Steven Lennex. Randy was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Rick Raudebaugh.

A celebration of Randy's life is being planned at a later date in Marblehead, Ohio where the family will relish in the fishing stories to be told. Fair winds and following seas, Captain Randy.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. You welcomed my daughter into your home(and your business) and made her feel like part of the family. I thank you for that. It is now the job of you three kids to carry on his legacy. RIP

Bon, I am so sorry about Randy. You 2 are like an "extended" brother and sister. We watched our children grow up together at the lake and Tammi and Brooke are still like sisters. I remember when we all went to the Dixie Electric Company in Perrysburg and the two of you outdanced everyone there, and at our kids weddings how everyone else stopped to watch you. (Ok, so you fell off the dance floor at Tammi´s wedding) everyone hated to see you stop dancing. As dad said "You two sure could cut a rug". My heart is just breaking for all of you. Especially you and the kids and Renee. I Love all of you and my prayers are with you.

Words cannot express how saddened we are to learn of Randy´s passing. I know your husband must´ve been an amazing man because you always beamed with pride whenever you spoke of him. I only saw him when he came to pick you up. He would be waiting in line with Ben with your pups. Most days we would only share a wave and a smile. Ben and I offer heartfelt sympathy to you and yours at this sad time. If there is anything we can do for you, please don´t hesitate to reach out to me.
