Robert Bernard Daney Jr., 76, of Northwood, OH, and formerly of Toledo, OH, and Coldwater, MI, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at his home. Bob was born June 29, 1948, in Toledo, OH, to Robert and Mildred Daney Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School, where he was a member of the baseball team. He furthered his education and baseball career at the University of Toledo and was involved with ROTC, graduating in 1970. On September 12, 1969, he married the love of his life, Mary Napierala. Bob served his country proudly in the United States Army. He began a long and successful career in financial services with Connecticut General Insurance, and retired from Financial Design Group in 2017. In retirement, Bob was often called by coworkers, friends, and those he mentored over the years for sound advice. Bob was active in the amateur radio community, Call Sign: WD8LIC, and participated in amateur radio clubs in Bowling Green, Fremont, and Coldwater, MI. He was a longtime volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America as a merit badge counselor for the Radio Merit Badge. He enjoyed entertaining family at his lake house in Coldwater, MI, and fishing the waters of Black Lake and Lake Erie. Memberships included Sylvania Elks Lodge, Conn-Weissenberger American Legion, and past president of the Financial Planners Association of Northwest Ohio. A lifelong devoted Catholic, Bob was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Toledo, OH; St. Anthony Parish, Angola, IN; and presently, a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Oregon, OH.

He was a loyal supporter at his children and grandchildren's numerous sporting events, plays, and recitals. Bob will be truly missed by those who loved him dearly, especially his dog, Jackson.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; children, John (Cheryl) Daney, Jeff (Lisa) Daney, and Jennifer (Lee) Herman; grandchildren, Cathy (James) Davis, Andrew (Christina) Sharp, Sam Herman, Sara Daney, Jeana Daney, Caleb Herman, Joah Herman, Dutch Daney, Daniel Herman, and Alex Daney; great-grandson, Beau Davis; siblings, Nancy (Jeffery) Jordan, Janet (Thomas) Titkemeier, and Thomas (Janet) Daney; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members, former co-workers, and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Ollie and Emily Napierala.

The family will receive friends at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Road, Oregon, OH, Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Ignatius Church, or the Golden Retriever Rescue Resource www.gr-rescue.org.
