SAKOWSKI Robert I. Robert I. Sakowski, 81, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 19, 1928, in Toledo, OH, to Ernest and Helen (Michalak) Sakowski. Robert was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve. His places of employment included Page Slotting & Saw of which he was owner and operator, Bostwick & Braun and Gross Electric. A talented artist, he enjoyed woodworking and building military models. He also loved to travel, especially to the Smokies, and watching any John Wayne western. Robert is survived by his devoted wife and navigator in life of nearly 60 years, Mary (Shestak) Sakowski; daughters, Susan (Randolph) Roth of Temperance, MI, Deborah (Robert) Rygalski of Toledo, Patricia (Marc) Willis of Hastings, MI and Linda Sakowski of Temperance, MI; sisters, Evelyn (Richard) Hoffman, Barbara Reynolds and Norma Burtis; sister-in-law, Rita Sakowski; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. His parents and brother, Lawrence Sakowski preceded him in death. Special thanks to Sister Maurice for her love and support. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Fort Meigs Cemetery. Thanks to the staff of Kingston Care Center and the dedicated caregivers of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
