Schmidt
Shawn G.L. (Martell) Schmidt, age 39, of Toledo, passed away Friday, February 8th, 2019. She was born March 19th, 1979, to Terry and Kathy (Runkle) Martell in Bowling Green, Ohio. Shawn was a 1997 Graduate of Springfield High School. After high school she attended The Ohio State University where she continued being a dedicated fan of the Buckeyes, cheering them on at every game. Shawn's career took her into the Healthcare Industry where she worked for many years.
She was known by her family and friends for her love of butterflies. There was never a question on any gift she was given, if it had butterflies on it, they knew she would love it.
Left to cherish Shawn's memory are her parents, Terry and Kathy Martell; daughter, Abigail Click; son, Johnathan Schmidt; stepmother, Pat Martell; brother, Chad Martell and many extended family members and dear friends.
Services will be private.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Shawn,
My dear friend, I write this to you in your loving memory. We always enjoyed our time together talking about life and taking time out to laugh and to help each other during our trials and tribulations in life. Now you are at peace. I want everyone who knew and didn't know Shawn to remember that she had a humble heart for her family, friends, and for even strangers. She was a very kind person who took interest to know things about people in a sometimes cruel and cold world, but there was Shawn with a smile asking how someone was to make them known to be important. She had that charismatic smile that was welcoming even to a stranger. I will always remember Shawn for her heart and kindness, but most of all her friendship. Attached is the picture of Shawn and myself enjoying each other, although I think we may have had a margarita nearby to help matters. Shawn, may God bless you, your family, and your children.

My heart breaks for your family as you mourn and celebrate Shawn's life. The first time i met her was Christmas, 1980 when Jim purchased a Strawberry Shortcake doll for her. She was so adorable and excited when he gave it to her! I pray that you can find comfort in your memories and joy in watching her children become her legacy.

I am heartbroken to hear about this. Shawn was a kind and gentle friend, those many years ago. Although we haven't spoken in quite some time, I will miss her. I am thankful to have had our lives intersect, and will cherish the memories. Rest in peace, my friend.

There are too many stories to tell but needless to say we were the typical brother and sister. It was my job growing up to embarrass / get on her last nerve and it was her job to get revenge but at the end of the day we always looked out for one another. Rest in peace and enjoy your time with our fellow family members who have passed and I will see you again one day. You'll always be in my heart. I love you!

Shawn, I Am so glad you came to me and I was able to help you. My days won't be the same looking out the window and not seeing you sitting on the porch. We shared so many tears and laughs together. You are a kind soul with a heart of gold . Your face lit up every time you spoke of Abby and Johnathan. I know I will see you again when I'm out gardening and that one pretty butterfly flies around , I will know it's you. I will have so much to tell you. GO BUCKS! I enjoyed our friendship.
