Sophia V. Lewandowski

LEWANDOWSKI Sophia V. Sophia V. Lewandowski, age 92, of Toledo, passed away at home on Sunday, August 23, 2009. She was born on January 29, 1917, in Toledo, OH, to Stephen and Stephania (Pawlowska) Mazurek. Sophia worked for Fundimensions/Craftmaster Corporation for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She also worked for Willys Overland during WWII. On August 28, 1943, she married Robert D. Lewandowski. He preceded her in death in 1978. Sophia was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and a former member of Nativity Catholic Church on Hamilton Street where she grew up. She enjoyed working in her garden, doing crafts, reading, playing bingo, and crossword puzzles. Sophia is survived by her daughter, Christine M. Lewandowski of Toledo; son, Robert (Julie) Lewandowski of Toledo; sister, Helen Spitulski of Toledo; grandchildren, Robert, Patricia and Scott; four great-grand-children, and special friend, Agnes Yeckley of Port Clinton, OH. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lottie Fisher; and brothers, Stanley, Theodore and Stephen Mazurek. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Lynette, Erin, Sallie and all the nurses at Innovative Dialysis for their loving support and compassion.
