Stanley L. Lissek

LISSEK Stanley L. Stanley L. Lissek, age 81, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family at Saint Luke's Hospital on Sunday, July 12, 2009. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 7, 1928, to Leon and Hedwig (Rybezynski) Lissek. He was employed with General Motors for 29 years as a tool and die maker until he retired in 1993. He was very inventive and held several patents. Stanley proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army and continued to serve his country by participating in the Honor Guard of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer and will be missed by those in his golf league. At the age of 73 he had his first hole in one. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved traveling with his companion, Kitty. Stanley's zest for life and quiet love for the simple things will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 36 years, Ardis Josephine, and seven siblings. Stanley is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Donald) Cropper, Denise (Richard) Hasbrook; grandchildren, Paul, Alissa, Laura, Evan, Michael, Hannah; brother, Raymond (Jim) Lissek; sister, Dolores Holly and special friend, Katherine "Kitty" Horoszewki. Visitation will be in H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, Ohio (at Alexis) 419-473-1301, on Wednesday July 15 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with American Legion Services at 5:30 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane.
