Thomas Batey Obituary
On December 9, 2022, Tom (a.k.a, Smiley), passed away at the age of 66. Tom was born on June 18, 1956, to William Russell and Alice C. (Zenk) Batey in Toledo, Ohio.
He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1974 and then would work out of Cement Masons Local 886/404 until his retirement.
Tom was an avid card player and enjoyed going to the casinos. He is survived by his four children, Justin (Kasey), James (Claire), Kristi (Habib) Howard and Tony (Nimet Ozbay); and his loving grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Susan (Bill) Babel, Patricia (Ken) Warvell; along with four brothers, William Russell (Paige), Robert (Chris), Michael (a.k.a, Mickey) and John (Terri) Batey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and long-time fiancé, Janet Cunningham.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Tom's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 332 Lauderdale Street, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

So sorry of hearing of Tommy's passing. We will miss him, he was one that like to give a firm hand shake and smile when you seen him.

I am so sorry about Toms passing, the fun we had as kids. Working at the gas station with your dad and Ronny Bass. Rusty, Bob and the Schadds. I hope your all doing well. Mick and John too. Great families. Tom let us learn how to drive in the old green Buick, was so much fun. I will miss him a lot. Pete Lynch
