Todd Collier Obituary

Todd W. Collier, loving husband and father of three, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, due to complications caused by cancer. He was 50 years of age.
Todd was surrounded by his family when he died peacefully at the University Hospital of Cleveland.
Todd embodied what it means to be a true "family man". He always considered his children to be his greatest accomplishment and contributed the majority of his time to them. Whether he was coaching a baseball team, cheering at a soccer game, or cutting a rug at a "father daughter" dance, Todd always played a major role in his children's lives. He was also an avid golfer and even though he only got to go on one sailing trip during his lifetime, he always had a fascination with ships and the sea.
Todd was born in Toledo to parents, Wilson and Barbara Collier, on February 3, 1956. He was a 1974 graduate of Roy C. Start High School and went on to attend The University of Toledo. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1980.
Hardworking and loyal, Todd only held two different jobs throughout his lifetime. His first job at Bischoff's Food Center lasted for ten years. It was while working there that he met his future wife, Suzie. After he graduated college, Todd was employed at TNS/NFO, a market research company in Northwood, OH. Todd worked there for the past 24 years. Todd was preceded in death by is father, Wilson Collier, who passed in 1981.
Todd is survived by Suzanne Collier, his loving wife of 23 years; his children, Robert, Stefanie and Abby; his mother, Barbara Collier; his brothers, Randy Collier, Carl (Pam) Collier and Scott (Bethany) Collier and his devoted companions, Rosie, Oscar and Layla.
Friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 12, 2006, from 2-8 p.m. in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., where funeral services will be held on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. Interment in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church, Hope Lodge in Cleveland or Planned Pethood. Todd's family would like to extend special thanks to the oncology department at Flower Hospital and all the nurses on the 6th floor. Also, special thanks to the University Hospitals of Cleveland and nurses on the 6th floor there. Extra special thanks are extended to Sandy and Jeff.
You gave it an awesome fight,
For that I will always love you.
But you can't always win,
For that I will truly miss you.
I love you with all
my heart and soul
Until we meet again
Love You, Suzie

Suzie, Abby, and Family:

I just heard about your husband's passing yesterday and cannot tell you how shocked and sorry I am for all of you. Just from seeing Todd at the different events with the girls I could tell he was a warm and sweet man.

To the Collier family,

My name is Noreen and I am the sister of Debbie B. who worked with and was good friends with Todd. I have been praying for Todd ever since I heard of his illness and also had many people in two prayer groups praying for him. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. Debbie spoke highly of Todd and I know she will miss him very much. I pray that Todd is at peace now and that God will comfort you during this difficult time.

Suzie & family,

Todd was my supervisor for several years & even though I have worked for TNS-NFO from home in Arizona for the last 3 years, I still had plenty of occasion to need his assistance. He was a good friend and a good supervisor & I miss him also. I was able to spend a few days in the office last June while he was working half days. I am very glad for that time we had to catch up.

Your loss is deeply felt by all his coworkers also. He was a big part of our work family & we have many good memories to carry with us.

God bless your family.

With all my sympathy,

Kay Tyson

Suzie and family -

I want to express my sincere sympathy. Todd was a gentle and honest man who touched the lives of many people. He always had a smile, and a positive outlook on everything. He will be missed by many.

I'm sure the ties he created in your family will help you find strength in his absence.

Suzie, Rob, Stef, and Abby,

Our most heartfelt sympathies to all of you. Todd was a kind and gentle man and we are so happy to have known him. Your entire family has had a huge part in our kids' upbringing and it was so comforting to know that we left our kids on a daily basis in the hands of an entire family that loved them and cared for them they way you all did. Most of all, it was very apparent that Todd loved his family and that you all were the center of his world...even those dogs!! He fought hard, but he is painfree and at rest now. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers as you have been since the very first day of all of this.

To the Collier Family -- I am saddened to learn of Todd's passing, although I am sure he is in a better place now. He put up a courageous battle. I was fortunate enough to meet Todd and his wonderful family through Planned Pethood and will miss him and his dedication to PPI.

Dear Collier Family,

Our families grew up together on Sabra Road and have remained very close. We all had a great admiration for Todd with the way he lived his life and his long, courageous fight to stay alive. He was such a gentle man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We wish we could be there to extend our sympathy in person. Our children will be there to represent us. With our love and sympathy, Doris and John

I remember Todd as a fine young boy, who obviously grew into a fine man. He and his brother Randy would have such fun romping around outside and I can still hear Barbara calling out to them not to get all muddy.

I am so sorry for your loss!

I just wanted to express how very sorry I am for the sudden loss of Todd. I took care of him since he was diagnosed in Sept. 2004 at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He suffered many days and nights, especially over the past 6 months and now he is at peace with God. He was definitely what I would call a fighter. No matter what, he was not willing to give up. He was a man of courage and strength. It was a pleasure to have been Todd's primary nurse. I really enjoyed getting to know him and his family. May God be with you, Sue, and your family during this time of loss and watch over you always. Love- Sandy

Todd - your wonderful smile and laugh will be the memory I hold dear, my good friend. Although we only worked together a few short years, reminders of you would always bring a smile to my face. Rest peacefully in the arms of God. Until we meet again......
