William Nunemaker Obituary
William M.
William M. Nunemaker, of Toledo, passed away at Sunset Village on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the age of 87. He was born on December 26, 1925, in Toledo to William S. and Helen (Tanner) Nunemaker.
William was a 1943 graduate of Scott High School. During WWII, he served in the Navy as an Aviation Radar Technician. He attended the University of Toledo, was a graduate of the National Institute of Dry Cleaning in Silver Springs, MD and Kirkpatrick Leather School in Los Angeles, CA.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania and St. Joseph Church in the Irish Hills, MI, Toledo Elks #53 Knights of Columbus, Logsdon Walla Post C.W.V., and past President of the Toledo Association of Dry Cleaners in 1966.
For 35 years, he was the owner of Lincoln Cleaners, and in 1990, turned the business over to his three sons. His son Bill said "Dad never really retired, he liked to talk to the customers and help us when he could." William and Dorothy enjoyed many cruises and trips together with family and friends. He started fishing when he was five years old with his father, and enjoyed it all of his life. For many years he enjoyed fishing in Mexico, Central America, Northwest Territories and especially at his cottage on Deep Lake in the Irish Hills with his sons, grandchildren, and friends.
William was preceded in death by his brother, Richard T. Nunemaker in 1995. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Mae (Duffin); daughters, Nancy (Gerald) Iagulli, Susan Sofo; sons, William (Jane), Robert, James (Carroll); and grandchildren, Carly, Nicholas, Janell, William S., Karen, Nicole, Michael, and Christopher and Kelly; eight great-grandchildren, and brother, Robert W. Nunemaker.
Friends are invited to join the family on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH. The Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, August 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, tributes in William's memory may be offered to St. Francis High School Scholarship Fund. Online condolences may be offered to the family at
