Guy Wright

Guy Wright, of Magnolia, succumbed to a lengthy illness in his sleep Monday June 30, 2014. Born in Longview, TX on July 18, 1940 he was a long time Houston resident, but enjoyed his final years in his former home town of Magnolia, TX. Guy treasured living amongst the tall pines and wonderful people of his community. He worked a long career for Southwest Distributing Company in Houston. Later he enjoyed his time in the transportation department for Magnolia ISD. His favorite "job" of all was that of Father, Grandfather & Great-grandfather. Guy epitomized the phrase "family man". As a father he & his wife raised their 4 active, talented daughters, adored 11 beautiful grandchildren and recently was thrilled to welcome 3 great-grandchildren. His other passion, other than his family, was his horses. He coveted the y ears as a member of Twin Spurs Riding Club where he forged many dear friendships. In 1978 he championed his daughters and wife as they opened Four Sisters Studio of Dance in Pinehurst. He was the most devoted "Dance Dad" working diligently building & installing ballet barres, traveling with his girls to numerous dance and performance events and encouraging them and their students every step of the way. Guy will be missed by his family, friends, and so very many children alon g with their families who knew him as both Mr. Guy and "Grandpa". Guy is preceded in death by his mother, Muriel, his father, James, his brothers Gayland and Kenneth and his sister Leoni s e. He is survived by his wife Gaylia, his daughters Tracy Dunivan, Angela Kyle and her husband Barry, Shari Mayes and her husband Danny and Pamela "PJ" Whitehouse and her husband Wil. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Derek Dunivan and his wife Lucy, Evan Dunivan, Brittney Pineda, Tori Pineda, Krystal Bernard, Clint Mayes, Tyler Pineda, Delilah Whitehouse, Amanda Mayes, Angela Mayes, Elijah Whitehouse and his great-grandchildren Layla Mayes, Campbell Guy Lee and Emma Bennink. He leaves his adoring brothers and sisters, Polly Morris and her husband Don, Patricia Becker, James Hooper and his wife Donna and surviving youngest brother, Matt Hooper as well as his dear sister-in-laws Jackie Murders & Hope Hooper. Missing him are his 16 nieces and nephews , numerous great - nieces , great- nephews and 2 great - great nephews. As he wished, there will be no funeral service and instead a Celebration of Life event in July for his friends and family.
