William Collora Obituary

William Frank Collora of Montgomery, TX passed away at the age of 65 on January 15, 2021 in The Woodlands, TX. William "Bill" Collora was born and raised in Huntington, NY to William and Jacquelyn Collora.

Bill moved from New York to Texas in 1978 with his young family. Following in the footsteps of his parents to Houston, TX. He worked hard his whole life to own and operate a local plumbing company, alongside the help of his two sons every day. Bill was the social center of his large family. He loved to entertain with Italian food, red wine and loved his Ma's tomato sauce. He had a big laugh, loud voice and had a jokester personality. His presence would fill the room. His love of music and the Beatles were often his favorite subject.

There is also the side of him that his family knew well, he was a son, big brother, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, and a friend. He was generous, un-judgmental and forgiving to the people he loved. His passions varied greatly from boating, fast cars, fly fishing, camping, RVing and traveling to Colorado. He enjoyed playing the stock market and was a savvy businessman. But some of his and our favorite nights were his movie nights, swimming, fishing at home with his kids and grandkids. All of his children share his passion for a love of animals and aquariums.

He was a proud father to Robyn, Billy and Joey and their beautiful families and his grandkids. He enjoyed bragging about Lily and Rose in their accomplishments in school and sports, and was so excited for their futures.

He was preceded in death by his father William Collora and brother James Collora.

He is survived by his children, Robyn (Dennis) Wear, Billy (Amy) Collora, Joey (Candace) Collora, Lily and Rose Collora. His grandchildren Emily and Will Collora, Alexis and Colton Collora, Sadie and Ava Wear. His mother Jacquelyn Collora, siblings Linda Lavino and Perry Collora. Numerous nieces and nephews and close friends. Also, the mothers of his children Linda Alexander and Geralyn Collora. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Due to the unprecedented times we will not be holding a traditional service. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or Habitat for Humanity.

I was hired by Bill back in 1981 when they had there small B & L plumbing shop in Houston and also knew his friend Ron. I did not work for him a long time but in that short time I became friends with them both. Ron and I both rode Harley Davidson Motorcycles and it wasn't long before before he also had one. He was a great person and I am sure he will be dearly missed by all of you

Just heard the news of Bill’s passing. We first met when doing the interior design on his home on the lake and came to realize we were neighbors with both of our business properties. Bill became a friend and someone I could ask for opinions and guidance in business matters. He will truly be missed and prayers are with all of his family.

My husband Steve and I knew Bill from TOPPS, Tiger Run, and as a next door neighbor on the lake. He was always a laid back and easy going guy but we knew we could count on him if we needed him. He was there for us during a particularly tough time and I will always be grateful for that. Prayers and love to his family.

In reflecting back, I believe that Bill and I have known each other since 1995? Bill was always full of conversation and laughter. He had his prominent New York accent and unique way of expressing himself. Bill was always very kind and accepting to me and treated me well. While Bill was taken from us all too soon, “Bill Collora Was Larger Than Life”. He will be remembered and missed by all.

He was always so kind and supported me and Lily in whatever we did together. He was a great role model and would always offer me the best life advice. So grateful for spending majority of this past summer with Lily and him whether it was the boat rides or business talks. I am forever thankful for the long summer nights and dinners spent at his house. So blessed I am able to say he’s my best friends father.

I remember Billy well. Once, in Spring, Texas while I worked for him a short time, he wanted an old chicken coop taken down on his property. The roof at one point was flat on the ground and several days later, when his other workers lifted it, they found a snake under it. Billy ran to get his shotgun and when his buddies lifted the roof again, Billy took aim. But he didn't shoot it! Billy forgot to bring shotgun shells! A funny memory I have of him for sure!

Rest in peace Billy!

Billy and I went to high school together. I never knew anyone with a kinder heart or freer spirit. Reconnected in Houston on a couple of occasions over the years and always had a great time. My condolences to his family, he went too soon. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

I’ve known Bill for probably 30 plus years.

He was just starting out in the plumbing business in Spring.

Even though I’ve not seen him in recent years I do remember his gregarious personality, kind heart and love of life.

When I last saw him it was at the Woodlands Mall and he was with his 2 young daughters proudly buying them shoes.

All he could talk about was his 2 girls...and the you could see the glow in him.

It’s really sad that his kids, grandkids and other extended family won’t have him here on earth.

Bill had a heart of gold and I’m sure that he liked to take care of people..especially family.

He will be missed

I am so sad about the passing of my friend Bill Collera. He was an amazing man who always had a smile in his face and a great story to tell. He was generous with his knowledge, always sharing his investment strategies...that's why we called him "Gold" Bill. Most of all, i will miss his heart of Gold! My prayers go out to his family...who he loved dearly! You will be missed!
