My gosh, I left a memorial for a HS classmate, and just noticed Ron's name under the HS link. My condolences to his family and friends. He was a sports hero for me. He graduated the year before I became a freshman, and had been captain of the Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball teams; our major sports at the that time. I first saw him in the Alumni basketball game, where he excelled at guard. Then when we were seniors, he attended pre-season practice and showed us some footwork moves. The fact that he was ribald in his explanations also charmed us. I read in the newspaper of his soccer achievements at Mercer Community College, where I think the team won its first national championship, and later at Maryland. He was inducted into both the HoVal Athletic Hall of Fame and the School's Distinguished Graduates Hall of Fame. I am sorry to learn that he is gone.

I just heard of Ron's passing. He was a joyful and thoughtful person. I worked with him for many years at the State Department. I would stop by his desk to say hi and he always greeted me with that genuine smile along with kind and funny conversation. It was a pleasure to know him. God bless his family.

I just learned of Ron's passing. I worked with "Coach" at DS for almost 17 years. He was just a delight to be around and the best storyteller I have ever known. The office is definitely duller for his absence.
You're definitely fondly remembered and missed, Ron!

I only learned today of Ron's passing and I am so sorry. Ron worked on my staff at the State Department. He was smart, engaging and beloved by those who had the good fortune to know him. And I will always remember his dedication to family. He was special and I know how much he is missed. Many blessings to all of his family and friends.

My husband Gary and I enjoyed knowing Ronnie. We were high school classmates. We had a great time on the last Washington-bound senior trip from our school...our boat had to turn around on the stormy water. Wouldn't have missed it.

We only recently came to know Ron but what a blessing. Our morning conversations during breakfast were such great fun. In many ways Ron touched our lives and we are so much better for having known him. We loved him dearly.

Ron was a great uncle! We bonded over Richard Bach books. We both loved "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah," "One" and, of course "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". Those books embodied his soul. Here are a few of the quotes we both loved:
True love stories never have endings.
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.
You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true. You may have to work for it, however.
Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they're yours.
The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.
You teach best what you most need to learn.
Don't believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you'll see the way to fly.
To fly as fast as thought, you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived.
Don't be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.
Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished. If you're alive, it isn't.
Rest in peace, Uncle Ron.

I didn’t work with Reggie long, my first assignment with USSS was in the Philly FO, 1999. I remember him well, and thought very highly of him. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Reggie was one of my dearest friends in the Secret Service. There was never a dull moment when working (or playing) with him. He was a person one could depend on to always have your back. We often solved the world's problems during our phone conversations since retirement, and I know how devastated he was with the loss of his wife, but also how much he loved the kids. Rest in peace, dear friend.
Signing off the way you always addressed me (at least since the PPD days).

I served with Ron in the Secret Service Philadelphia office from 1992-98. I remember him as a gentleman, a sharp-dresser, and possessed of a wry sense of humor. My condolences to his family.

It was an honor and a privilege to work with Ron Hoch in the United States Secret Service on several protective details and at the Technical Security Division (TSD). Reggie considered his service to his county in the USSS one of the highest achievements of his life. Several years ago, he emailed me photos of the headstones he designed for his beloved wife Diana and for himself. His inscribed epitaph simply reads:
Ronald E. Hoch, United States Secret Service, Special Agent
(years of service) and the Service Star emblem.
The five point Service Star represents the agency's five core values:
justice, duty, courage, honesty and loyalty. Reggie treasured the many friends that he made during his 30-year Secret Service career, and will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was a great guy. Sending my deepest condolences to the Hoch family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Reggie.

My sincere condolences to Ron's family, especially his daughters Courtney and Tessie. Ron was a former teammate of mine at Trenton Jr. College when we won the soccer National Junior College Championship in 1963. He was an outstanding teammate and friend over these many years. He will be sorely missed, but his mark on the soccer world will forever be remembered.
