Rufus Gricks Obituary

Rufus "Boots" Gricks, 67, of Penfield, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

He was born January 25, 1955, in DuBois, the son of the late Harry and Helen (Dutton) Gricks. He married Janice (Slagle) Gricks on February 14, 1976, she survives in Penfield.

Boots was a graduate of Portage High School. He previously worked as a coal miner for Stoker's Mine in Penfield. He loved the outdoors and was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Boots also leaves behind two children: Tanya Gricks of DuBois and Nathan (Jessica) Gricks of Penfield, two grandchildren Shiann Durnell and Shay Gricks, four great-grandchildren: T.J. Burr, Mason Burr, Finley Burr and Saxton Durnell all of DuBois, three brothers: William, Thomas, and Calvin Gricks and six sisters: Rebecca Fuller, Eliza Wholavr, Birdie Bowles, Ruth Block, Rhoda Berdnt, and G. Connie Dicke.

Boots was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: John and Harry Gricks.

There will be no public visitation.
